I don't know what kind of beef you have with certain people on the forum, but I personally enjoyed your post and found it very insightful.

One of the things that stood out for me in the video is this line: "Emotions trump logic every time"

Those are FACTS... even if unfortunately, it is nearly always at a cost in respects to human dignity. When you play to the emotional fears of the ignorant, you're going to get that response every single time. And if you are ethnically diverse, economically disenfranchised, or generally brown skinned, trying to find justice this day and age is like rollerskating up a hill.

Also, although I know Herr Durr is a good guy and a regular/long time member of this forum, I disagree the post is a "socialogical firebomb". I see this as a perfectly reasonable post as it relates to music and generally an interesting topic to consider, at least to me.

Sometimes I feel not too many people take time to consider how the music they make affect their lives and the lives of those around them. Rap has historically been a controversial genre specifically for all of the reasons outlined in the video and I've often wondered why violent themes in some songs are not warranted the same amount of concern as those from rap songs. I loved the experiment she pointed out in particular to the lyrics of a country song. That perfectly illustrates the point.

How are the lyrics by Johnny Cash I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die any more or less violent than the lyrics of countless songs from other genres. The fact is they're not. The difference is that violent lyrics in one genre romanticize "rebellious" cowboys and the other "violent" thugs.

It's a very interesting topic to consider and I'd be interested in hearing other's thoughts.

You seem to have missed the point of Herr Durr's completely, so the harsh slight aimed at him seems cheap at best.
Also, unsure why you used quotation marks, as they are only used to denote sarcasm which doesn't fit with the rest of your comment.

I am savagely political and am not shy about my views. I also believe that more people need to be informed about social, political and human rights issues, as most people try and remain pleasently ignorant, thus, further dumbing down society as a whole. That being said, I don't post shit like that on AudioSex because this is supposed to be a forum dedicated to music related topics. And if you believe that your posts are music related enough to be on here, fine, but when you post something that has clearly been put up in hopes of watching a fireworks show, and other people don't believe that it's even relevant to music because of that, don't think that people aren't going to call you on it. Policing is why this site is still helpful, informative and up and running at all; remember that.

Music is not only about putting notes together, so why not have some further conversation/debate about society , life and all ?

But remember, if you start a debate, be ready to listen to others opinions, other wise, this is not a debate and then it becomes useless.
