This is a well known aspect of u-he plugins. You have to move the "Plugin.data" folder(s) to a different location, that is, somewhere other than "C:\Program Files\", because that folder, and all of its content are write protected.

Me personally, I keep my u-he "Plugin.data" folders in "C:\Program Data\u-he" (which is a hidden folder, so you need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders; obviously you don't have to keep it in there, you can put it anywhere, as long as it isn't a write protected location).

Then, you must create a shortcut in your "VstPlugins" folder that links to your "Plugin.data" folder, and then put that shortcut in the same location as your "Plugin.dll". By default, the shortcut file will be name "Plugin.data shortcut", you must rename it to just "Plugin.data".

BTW, when I say "Plugin", I mean it as a placeholder for whatever the plugin's actual name is, e.g., Diva.dll, Diva.data, Zebra.dll, Zebra.data, etc.

Here is a quick screenshot of my directories:

That's one way to circumvent it; but it's much simpler to just move the folder(s) to a non-write protected location.

install VST2 (64bit) works without problem

Maybe u need to open DAW with Administrator rights
bcoz all u-he plugins need this on my PC

FYI, if you're using V.R's u-he plugins, I'm pretty sure that they automatically install the "Plugin.data" folder into the "C:\Program Data\u-he".

The probably easiest solution would be to simply set the correct rights for that folder :winker:

hi there, I knew this problem and I tried to install plugin.data (Diva and Repro) to another SSD, other than system drive. I tried to open Cubase and it showed that error. is it possible to install plugin.data to another disk?
