Your welcome. The mic hasn't a transformer but I "warm" up the signal a tad by driving it through the Warm Audiopreamp/compressor stages, then into the DAW to knock down about 1 or 2dB of sibilant zing with the FabFilter DS then on to the very sexy VCL-25A. The Gefell has a very sweet M7 capsule that hasn't yet collapsed on me when hurling heavy vocal vibes at it. All their mics are top notch. I also have the surprisingly large sounding, albeit in a tiny package, Gefell 930m. It has the least colored off axis sound around, and when combined with the very musical proximity effect that this mic exhibits, can be used to dial in a sound so as not to really need to use an eq later down the line (for string instruments as well as shakers and cymbals, etc) Gefell is one half of the original Neumann company and still make the M7 capsules with the original pre-war machines. The m930 though has a gold sputtered M9 capsule.

 

Yep. Of course some things can not longer be fixed "on the way in", like mic placement, because it's already recorded.
But a lot of people use plugs instead of adjusting things that can be.
"I really ought to adjust the ___________ on that... But I can just use a plug..."
I guess those are "but" plugs.

 

I lost count of the number of times I've worked with somebody who said "Can't you just fix it with a plugin?" instead of doing another take.

It sounds like a great beginning to your song as well as being oh so smoooth to me also. It would make a potent brew to mix a bunch of us up together in the same room, shake it up and pour. I reckon the distillation would be a "smooth" version of what might be a cross between lightening, rattlesnake venom and honey.
