funny how these rules don't apply to audioz, people steal links link crazy and talk mad shit about eachother, but nothing is done.

 

I usually don't mind if people start to seriously flame each other. I'm amused at first, and then I just ignore it.
We need to remember that people have different temperaments. Some are cool, while others are fiery. Kook
is a good example of that. I don't know him personally, but he comes over as a hotspur. I can take his temper,
but some people are driven away by it.

I understand that if you want to grow a community you need to make sure that, particularly during the
formative stages, certain characters and behaviors don't make too much of an impression on it. So you
need to put a check on them eventually. That's where banning comes in. It's different when you already have
a broad, mature system. That can absorb antagonistic behavior much better.

How people can get from talking about music production and culture to calling each other names is beyond me. Music is inherently cohesive, not divisive.

The moderators can run this forum any way they want, can't see there ever being a problem if you stick to the script, clearly thats not always a priority, one-upmanship takes over.

hey folks, i´ve been watching these arguments for a bit,

and i have to say, most of you are really very sweet and have a great way of talking to each other, very social, humble and just sweet and caring. keep it up, you guys are amazing !

and to the troubles, which have gotten here - i believe that all of this can be resolved by a clear speaking what troubles there are, then having the choice to take that as it is and being tolerant about varying opinions, or - at times it´s best - to leave each other alone. i mean, hey, can´t be the point of this community to piss each other off, true ?

It's truly a shame when "adults" have to resort to name-calling (in an attempt to make their arguments 'appear' stronger). Once a person does that, he/she has lost whatever point that they were trying to make. Schoolyard kids do it all the time because their adolescent thought processes are not quite developed enough to carry a heated discussion to a rational and reasonable conclusion. In America, it's happening every single day from a certain individual (I'll leave that person up to your imagination). "Banning" people for child-like and disruptive behavior (particularly after they've be warned multiple times) seems a just way to get the message across.
