Slider/knob/fader for multicontrol. Lets say i need to assign filter cutoff, reverb dry/wet and distortion ammout to one knob. - This is macro control.

Lets say and don't need 4 filters per each of four parts. I want to assign all parts to ONE fiter. - This is basic routing options. Basic stuff that is not possible with omnisphere in 2018.

If you are horror movie composer - okay. All you need is browser and presets. But if you want to design something, omnisphere is the most terrible option.

Agree with everything except the browser part. I dont know any vsts like omnisphere that have a sound match feature (amazing feature btw) and the ability to search for sounds is something so small but just so damn essential with a huge library!

Check browser in diva/repro. Tagging, marking, basic managment, quick search. Easy, fast, efficient.

Dont use diva but from what i know its only a synth right? Omnisphere is carrying over 14 thousand presets with samples also so it definitely wont be as fast and efficient. It's just one of those things you have to just appreciate for what it is

Wrong. If thing is poorly designed and useless - it is poorly designed and useless (nvm if you are horror movie composer).

I think there's a master filter (front page) and also you can add filters to common fx, do it that way?

Yeah, like I said, the mod matrix is pretty good. Also automation. But prolly simpler to do it from MM:

It's ok, quite gimmicky tho. And you can see the (just multi sort) algorithms at work. Often it just throws up random, unconnected stuff after the first couple of matches! Or in the first couple of matches! XD Anyway, props to them for doing (attempting) that. Although basic tagging and ordering is still a mess, being forced to sort by (essential characteristics) either/or is a real pita. Still. Basic browsing is a bit of a nightmare too. I hoped there would be something as simple as (ie) colour tagging (in browser) or something. Or even ten stars in ratings. At least the whole new "marking" thing will help identify which of the billions of 5* patches is best! Or at least narrow them down. Slightly. (1* patches if ur @DanielFaraday =)

It's just (searching) a database, tho. Simple XML even. Kilobytes of data. Should be exactly that!

    Hey guys

I always hated the look of OmniSphere that LightBlueish whaaaakkk.
Doesn't matter I saw once that on Mac OS it is the easiest to make your own SKIN because the "Mac structure" of the plugin has a separate "PNG" folder so you can easily edit whatever color you want.
I was so curious how to do it on WIndows and finally I found it out.
All you need is Resource Hacker (it is a free software it opens .exe, .dll) so you can edit almost all of your plugins it's so cool.
And of course photo editing knowledge like Affinity (Yes it's lighter and much better than Photoshop), Photoshop, GIMP...
So it is possible to modify the UI you can insert your own "Layer" behind Omnisphere's main windows it's so cool guys.

    So the process is:
    1. Open the .dll with RH than browse through the PNG files and whichever you want to MOD just save it as a PNG file.
    2. When all of your PNGs are saved open in your photo editor and you can do everything that's possible inside Affinity/PS...
    3. Go back to RH open the dll and replace the "factory PNG" files one by one...with your's and press save.
That's it it will work without any crashes or faults it works in Standalone and as a VSTi as well...

So Omnisphere's UI is made up of PNG pitcures and you can change everything sliders/knobs everything it's so cool.
This is my version it's so neutral and good for your eyes I needed this change so bad because I'm front of Omnisphere for hours and that factory blue irritates my eyes.

I just only replaced the irritating blue color so it matches the "Browser panel's" color:)

Master filter is a joke, you even can't modulate it. Envelope Filter in fx section is bad too. Mod Wheel and dedicated macro control isn't the same thing. So no, it doesn't work that way.

@DanielFaraday I f you hate Omnisphere that much there is one easyto handle and cost effective option:
Don't buy it and/or just don't use it.

@DanielFaraday : Read all of your own posts again in a few days and tell me from the perspective of a neutrally reading person, that this is objective. It's a rant against Omnispehre and "horror movie composer".

Objective arguments most of the time don't contain the words FUCK YOU and so on and so forth,

If you want to be understood as an objective person, you must behave like that.

Dont know why i keep hearing this horror movie composer thing, i read your original post where you said you only used it for a few hours. There are 14 thousand sounds. Yes, many of them can be used for film composers but like i said before, its the industry standard which means producers are using omnisphere to make those hit songs you've been hearing.

Not sure what you mean by kilobytes but when we mentioned browsing being slow, i thought you were referring to the loading times of presets? Im confused now, what is slow? By the way i hope you are familiar with the "Projects" feature in omnisphere that allows you to mark your favorite presets and add them in a Projects list. You can also hold shift and select as many presets and add them in that project and just go to them whenever. All of this is in the patch browser. Maybe create a project in omnisphere and name it 10 Stars, 9 stars , etc and add the presets in there.

Also sound match feature is not supposed to be perfect and maybe thats a good thing? Accidents in the process of creating can sometimes lead to something good. I honestly find some interesting sounds using that feature, but you should realize if the preset sounds complex it will definitely be hard for the sound match feature to compare it to anything else.

I think @DanielFaraday want's to transport a message and he's knowledable enough to have one, but blood on the lips disqualifies for being the wise man we would like to listen to.

I mean, I broadly agree w/ you @DanielFaraday that Omni is a rompler. Mainly because calling it that seems to annoy the most irritating chublord in the galactic universe, Eric Persing =) but also because it produces far too many big, pointless, horror-movie (unusable) patches. That sometimes take up 7G+ (!) of mem. And is a bit too jack of all trades. But it does have nice, playable sounds! Mostly, they're hidden deep within the code & you need to use resource hacker or IDA to find em! Anyway, most of the following is prolly pointless, but still:

Well, you can learn it and automate it. So you can use any number of (autoLFO?) sophistimacated ways to modulate it? Agree, it would be a pita if I ever needed to use it...

Ur kinda arguing that blue ducks aren't brown ducks, it seems? If it looks like macro control, acts like macro control and quacks like macro control? I mean you can modulate lots of stuff and learn lots of stuff and automate lots of stuff internal / ex. So far this (has been) all the stuff I've ever wanted to change / mod rly. Just cos it's not explicitly filed under macro ctrl? I mean, far from me to white knight the honour of Eric Persing, which is what this prolly sounds like! :D

Well, up to a point: "Envelope Filter in fx section is bad" :P

Anyway, I think we kinda agree on moar things than we don't. Feel like I'm a spokesperson for Pixar villain Eric Persing, and tis making me feel a bit queasy!

It would be nice to hear what it is that something labelled macro control does that mod matrix et al doesn't? Just generally.

I know a great deal of them =) & I'm about half way thru rating the new hardware stuff. It's mostly great, like I said, Omni works almost despite the many annoying "quirks". But the point is, the whole interface seems quite laggy and unresponsive and searches are quite slow compared to other softsynths. When none of it should be! Loading (as you said) isn't especially fast, but you can get to a playable state quickly w/ 90% of the sounds. It's mostly the keyscape ones that add (interminable) extra loading time. Omni et al are solely on SSD, btw. Kontakt (even) is a lot quicker to navigate / load, and shouldn't be.

I mean, I have created my own system for (user) organisation. But I shouldn't have to! Y'know. It should be quick & intuitive. Creating stuff and sorting it urself isn't. It would only take a few tweaks, but I suspect Eric Persing is too used to hard synths for this? It's taken the shortest, fattest, silkiest princess in Camelot a decade to make an HD UI for Omni. The less said about resource hacker (ffs!) being needed to change the borked UI, the better! I mean, it's a softsynth that costs the same as Cubase, ffs! Should have at least a dark UI option.

I've only used it for a few years (decades =) but @DanielFaraday is quite right, tho. Even the ubiquitous video game character Eric Persing admits ("unusable in a mix") as much in the video above!

With Studio One v4.1 ,after some minutes playing with Omnisphere 2.5.0d ,Omnisphere freezes and produces a cyclic "short sound every 1 or 2 seconds",and Studio One v4.1 ends up crashing.
Studio One doesn't crash with Omnisphere v2.0.
    Win10 Pro.
Am I the only one with this problem, please?

Maybe. I tried it w/ S1 3 (worked fine), seems to just FTS Omni in 4.01. Weird. Don't rly use S1, jeez takes forevs to scan! Anyway, I'll try to look into it, but it's prolly just gonna be fixed in nxt update?
