what coding language are most vst instruments created in?

    i am curious to learn more about writing code, especially for the purpose of designing new vst instruments and effects. i do not want to use synthmaker, i want to know what language(s) some of the more popular instruments are being developed with. thanks in advance to any who can shine some light

    C++ there are some sites where you can find ureful information about coding vst & Vsti:s you get some basic echo,reverb,and other small plugin schematics to get you going
