Suites are for lazy people. I pick and choose particular plugins for the task at hand. E.G., I like this particular compressor, this particular reverb, etc. I don't usually have more than 2 options for a type of plugin (for example, I use an algo and a convolver verb). Keeps it simple. When you need a compressor, you know what to reach for and you know it sounds good.

Actually, UAD has designed more of their own plugins than third party developers (I currently own 106 UAD designed plugins at the moment). Not sure if that will change in the future, but I don't see them letting up on the vintage emulation cash-cow they got going on.

I'm leaning to Melda. Deep enough to realize almost any sound design idea I have in my mind.
I had often struggled to find a plugin that does what I need, and found myself to return to one of the Meldas surprisingly often, although I don't like the UI much in terms of eye candy :winker:

Apart from that, it's hard to beat what you get with Logic Pro X and Ableton Suite (although in Ableton I'd miss a few special plugins like a really good denoiser, transient designer, exciter, dynamic EQ, better time stretching, granular FX etc. in some cases).
Max4Live is a good idea but it's not really fun developing effects with it, I'd rather use Reaktor or even Tassman.

On the other hand, one could argue that the creations that are available for Max4Live are huge, probably versatile enough to be considered a great suite of its own, although not from a single dev of course.

    Fabfilter. Easy choice for me.

To make this interesting, If it was for production, i'd go NI.

Ps: what music isn't possible with Komplete Ultimate 11 and Fabfilter total bundle? One day, I'll delete all my plugins and try to keep just those two. Somehow I have a feeling i'd be more productive...

  6. Sleeper Alert: Kiloherz plugins seem to me pretty fantastic. I tried their sweet suite and every single one of the pack sound killer, have an unobtrusive gui...and did I say that they sounded great? Check them out, you might be surprised. Their tremelo sounds fantastic, something that lots of devs can certainly create, but there is a finess in the algo that brings this one towards the top of the heap.

There is a multiband compressor that eats up 1/3 of mine i7 quad 2,0 GHz. But the sound it throws out pays wonderful.

depends on what you aim for,
without Kontakt itself, choices become limited, but not unavailable,

there's Omnisphere II killer for cinematics and soundscapes, then there's IK' Modo Bass, Amplesound, UJAM for various guitars and bass guitars, countless synths to choose from (way more than just Arturia mega pack, KV331, ROLI' Equator etc..) are often standalone as well, also let's not forget the revolutionary best-sounding SWAM engine by Sample Modeling, and last but not least the mighty XLN' Addictive Drums and Addictive Keys

If I only had one choice, it would have to be SSL Duende. A true analog emulation suite.

While it does not have some added features that other emulations offer yet, it does what you what expect from SSL.

Need a vocal to be consistent? Try the vocal strip or ssl channel. Have had good results using both in series with a little processing from each. Quality finished vocals period.

Either the UA pack or simply the Logic native plugs.

In any other case I would say Voxengo suite, but I would really really miss Saturn and Volcano, so I have to say Fabfilter bundle, too.

Ideally, I could do everything incredibly well with just these two bundles, and it is what I do, actually. Plus some other reverb, filter and distortion plugins.

Other plugins that I use occasionally are mostly here for experimentation, or/and fun, or as temporary solution for speed that I replace with hardware afterwards, if I find the track worth the trouble. :)

Dont really like the concept of suites, but i use mostly fabfilter stuff in my music, and sometimes soundtoys, so thats the only two "suites" that i would buy as a plugin suite, and maybe the Arturia Instruments Bundle... But these pricey updates .-.
