I wanted to do something in retro style, I have no idea if it's good:disco:

I feel it is quite good, enjoyable, entertaining.

I think it could be much punchier, on the mix (but I know only costly plugins, to bring this punchier quality I have in my head when I listen to your track ; maybe there is enough with the Samplitude stock plugins which are very fine, but I'm not sure). Maybe you could try Vandal, and other Samplitude stock distortion plugins, which are quite fine ; but maybe Acustica Audio plugins could do an even better sonic work.

Thanks, I have very few advanced plugins, recently I bought Ozone 8 Standard for 83$ and I'm learning it, but thank you for all the tips

Really good job, it sounds very authentic. Don't worry to much about plugins, learn to use what you have. :)

Sounds 80sish but the bass is hidden in the mix too much and muddy, needs to stand out a bit more or a better patch. The drums aren't very 80s, need some extra percussion or claps in there from some early drum machines. I like the main synth riff but could sound bigger/wider. Overall the mix is a bit distant sounding or very low in volume. The vocal clips aren't bad but a bit random and it needs that 80s orch stab to stick out more.

@grabme Thank you for constructive tips, I will try to do something with this synth bass, also it seems to me that it may sound better

I agree that the track has its kind of analog feeling sound (thanks to Samplitude Pro X3 audio engine), and a kind of "glossy" pleasant quality.

Preserving, and also enhancing, these qualities, and adding more impact, more punch, to the song, and more differentiations in instruments sounds and in the sound space, could be possible.
"Unfortunately" doing this requires experience and knowledge, or otherwise a lot of time and experimentations ; then, depending on @Recoil current state of affairs, maybe it could not be the right time for this kind of concerns.

These ideas come to me only because the song is already quite such good.
Then, because it is quite such good, I have a tendency to "wanting perfection" (this tendency is an artist tendency, not a technician's one ; artist wants perfection while technician wants only something that work), for what it means to me that maybe could not be the same than for @Recoil , who knows, but this is from a 80's point of view so maybe there is a 80's common stock to all.

By the way @Recoil , how do you like the Waves Abbey Road Chambers Reverb (I've seen it on the video ; I currently don't succeed in knowing if I "have" to buy it or not, at its current $29 bargain price ; the sounds examples I found on the net didn't impress me, but I may be wrong on this one) ?...

...I try to find some examples about what I mean by "80's sonic analog impact and punch", maybe there's something like this :

@Grok I'm happy with Abbey Road Chambers it's my third Waves plugin, I really do not like the mastering process, but I'm learning it :bleh:
and I prefer to focus on creating a song than on mastering :shalom:

if I would only make money on it, I would take it quite seriously :thanks:

Listened to it this morning and forgot to comment =P

It sounded very authentic from a sound perspective, I'm sure there's stuff from a mixing perspective you could've done differently.

My biggest qualm was with the chord and melodic choices and that could've been an intentionally stylistic thing on your end for it to be more 80s.

However, there were limitations back then with arpeggios and auto-chord type functions on synths that didn't always necessarily let you pick if the notes fit the key you were trying to play in.

Other than that great job, I enjoyed it =)

Great work @Recoil ... Sounds very 80s for sure... Mix could do with a more pronounced low end... Great job! :like:

I find it easiest to mix on headphones.

Voxengo Span is a good one though to stick on your masters and see if you are hitting the frequencies you want.
