@No Avenger - which are those drum heads? I'm planning to experiment with Evans Onyx soon, which are also matte black :)

super duper top secret tip - invert phase if you do so and also use overheads.

I noticed you have no room mic. IMHO is escential. The more important mic. The rest ones are only to sound more presence in the mix. Although you will need a good sounding room, of course. You can get good PZM for that. This days are relative affordable mics.

depends on genre, I heard having one basic dynamic mic in the "middle" of kit just above kick drum aimed on snare is often more effective than room mics, dang gotta try that next time myself :invision:

Yes I have a PZM . I want to mount it on a 4x4 sheet of plywood as anchor. I used to use it behind my kit onstage. It put the whole kit in the P.A. I would put a mic on kick and sometime snare depending on room. Yes I intend to put a room mic in. Had considered my Rode nt2a for this too.

Just visual! I don't think it will show up in the mix, but I am an amateur....

I am so jealous, I am still stuck on an e-drum kit.

May I suggest some acoustic panels? It does wonders... especially with the snare sound.

I actually own 4 I bought from a high end studio. I have an e-drum kit. It's cool, but nothing like acoustic. Most of these suggestions I agree with. Even the micing the bottom skins makes a bit of sense. I will be trying them all. Thanks.
