Hi everyone...

I've been having a recent exchange with Olymoon and it was his idea to ask the forum how everyone feels about creating a page or container to house all the tutorials that get released.

I for one, don't care to see so many "Academy.fm" releases on the front page. I don't like Academy.fm tutorials but that's just my opinion. I will admit, those releases are as entitled as anything else that gets released at AudioZ.

My idea is to have ONE main post that will host all the Academy.fm releases (or any release in quantities of 2 or more on the same day) so that us visitors don't have to scroll past each release to find something we're interested in.

I say this because one day (a few months back maybe?), I saw the entire front page of the sister-site plastered with "Academy.fm" releases!! I thought that was a bit extreme. (Just to be fair, this happens with a lot of other releases and I'm all for cleaning up the front page!).

This could go for any release (not just Academy.fm) that becomes overbearing and takes up too much front page real estate!

For instance if an OP posts 2 or more of the same company product in the same day (24 hour period), he/she should have to enclose it within one post, so it doesn't cover the entire front page of AudioZ.

What do you guys think? All suggestions are welcomed!

My idea is to clean up the front page and make it neater and easier on the eyes to not have to see the same product title, post after post!

Just a thought... (and a poll!)

I think that any posts containing these words: academy fm maybach cartel cymatics diamond loops gangster trap gucci & 8dio should have their own extra-specially special enclosure. One with bars on it, so they can roam free in the wild without escaping back into anyone's view evah =)

 

Same with all the 'obscure 'name recycled' stolen from somebody else loops and beatz just so you can sound like...' posts.

There are logistical issues with doing it, but I would be very happy to NEVER see Academy or any of it's illegitimate siblings again.

Take this w/ a pound of salt. My main reason for haunting the 'Z' is to find out in one place if there are upgrades for the stuff I own. Or a portable, or other tweak that works better than what I payed for.

I don't mind it as it is. I have a strong finger for scrolling through :D

Just like LuckySevens, the academy.fm posts are irrelevant to me, but it's the same with many other releases. I just scroll through as I am sure they are relevant for someone else...

 

I perosnally don't mind it, and only about 1/10th of Academy.fm tutorials (if that,) are relevant to me, seeing as how many pertain to particular DAWs that I don't use (Logic, Ableton, etc.,) styles of music I don't make (Trap, EDM, etc.,) or just stuff that I'm already up on, say, EQing bass and kicks. I do understand not wanting to see a million posts that aren't relevant to you scattered around the first few pages (depending on how often you frequent the site,) that being said though, I don't much care either way. Now, on to famouslut's idea....I think he may be on to something.

 

I have it set to show software for pc only, so until it was brought up, I didn't even know about the academy stuff! That's why I chose to leave well alone (Poll)!

If the loops or presets are any good, they make it to the most downloaded top 7 weekly spot anyway.

 

Haha, four Academy.fm tutorials just popped upwhile I was typing--three for Logic, one for Cubase; I need none of them. So, I do see your point....

 

I don't necessarily mean to single out Academy.fm. Although I personally feel their tutorials are weak , but that's just my opinion. There are a ton of posts for companies I disdain on AudioZ but I can't have it exactly the way I want it (or could I? Customizable AudioZ?? )

We ALL have our preferences, just like we all like different styles of music, DAWS, bands, plugins, composers, computer platforms, etc.

I think it will make for a cleaner front page, if multiple releases (of the same product) get banded together into one post that maybe opens up to separate pages? Just thinking (and hoping) out loud...

 

the academy.fm stuff does look like clutter sometimes.. as did the udemy floods..

 

But how will I know how to make sick trap beatz?

 

Tutorials should be in a different category. Maybe under education.

 

I think a container makes sense, but there are different uploaders around. Uploader 2 hasn't seen the previously created container by uploader 1 and so on, that's not really fail-save.
It would be better to redesign the interface. The navigation on the left classifies into different categories, this should be integrated into the front panel. Further the main page is splitted into a free and a scene area. Ban the free (archives) stuff and use this space for scene releases.
If there are agreements, I will come up with a design suggestion.

 

That subject has already been discussed at length and they're staying on the front page.

Anyway, whatever we say the only person with an actual vote is our glorious leader Saint.
Going by his statements on various other discussions we've had here Saint wants an equal community where every post counts and gets the same exposure on the front page.

Just because i or anyone else has no interest in a particular post, someone else may be looking for just that item.
And their needs and desires are just as important as mine or anyone elses.

I have to say its a refreshing change from a lot of other places similar to the sister site.

for any posts from companies that show up all the time it would be better to make a seperate page. so who cares can go to look the new stuff on that page. others can pass it. its not really attractive to see the tutorials all the time (not even talking about the quality of them-). and indeed things like Cymatics too. also wouldn't it be a good idea to stop posting free things and make it just an habit to post direct links here in Audiosex to them ? looks like more fair to the hosts that give them for free .

on one (daily) page? Page no, it cant be. That would be one post per day, containing all the Academy FM tutorials of this day.

If they are combined into one post per day, It will be more difficult for members to find the ones that are interesting for them.

Imagine someone comes with a bunch of Soundiron Kontakt libraries the same day, they should be into one post only? Even if one is an organ, the other one is a voice and the third one are classical strings?

Scrolling is not such an effort. And we can click on left menu to access specific sections.

IF you want only software, you can click on software section for your system.

Some times ago there was so many of these "small crap" releases that I almost missed a major Kontakt library that had been pushed to page 3. So it would help.

I guess, we talk past each other a little atm:

Most of us are just using the AZ front page without filter so all posts are ordered only over time.
If the forum software supports a NOT filter to sort out unwanted content would be the easiest way to accomplish what is asked for:

Show all fresh releases but NOT fm.*, 8Dio*..." order by day, title

So everyone could set the filter in personal settings.

And we all know how to handle a filter, don't we?
