Here's a different breed of music from me. Just wanted to do something to an imagined brief for a fashion commercial. I would be very grateful for any feedback musically and technically.

It is always nice to hear music from other fellow members.
While listening to it, an idea came to my mind :
Dub it ! ,yes that is "Dub music" it,i know call me crazy,use a spring reverb & tape delay,take out the 4/4 beat & dub it,
try it & post here the alternative version when you make it
Always remember that music for commercials & for "fashion" style music,needs to have contrast so do the unexpected.
All the above of course if you want to do a different version of it.
To conclude your track has "Style" for sure ,love it !

how'd you go about making this track? is it all in the box?

@paraplu020 ... its all ITB... First I laid the beat and then programmed the guitar bits over it... Added a few synth layers... small variations in the drums... and finally added a limiter to raise level... all done in Cubase 9.5 Pro

@rah ... it could be for anything really... i imagined the brief... was thinking broadly of a fashion brand... not necessarily the specific type of garment... thanks for listening!

 

I'd give more oomph to the bass drum, maybe transpose one cycle of the "basic" guitar and maybe up the tempo a bit?

you have aurally recreated a jogging halter top crowded pair of 38 double D's
and a badonkadonk busting out of a pair of pink short shorts..

you have my vote to be promoted to "audiosexual" forthwith.. and without hesitation nor delay...

It fits what you were going for Knightsurfer; I can hear it playing behind one of the fashion ads that always interrupt my YouTube videos.
The only thing that stuck out (it may sound like I'm joking, but I'm not....for once,) was the change in melody at 1:15 change ever so slightly--it has a brief solo/lead thing. That sort of thing may be a sound music idea, but if you were actually going to try and pitch an advertising ditty with something like that in it, unless there is a visual breakdown that corresponded to that solo/lead, they would pass on it. The music is supposed to be hypnotic, almost unnoticed, and certainly not even close to interesting enough to distract you from the ads actual content.
Anyway, I may be ovveranalyzing it; I took a two year course in Graphic Design/Multimedia/Business Advertising and so we learned about all the do's and don't's of the industry. (The degree sits gathering dust, but the knowledge remains....largely unused.)
The track is good though. The only thing that sticks out is the hihat; It doesn't really seem to fit, though I think I see what you were going for....maybe something a bit more organic?
Overall, I think it's good: the light dynamics work and the quick, small opening build, drop-out at 1:28 and then the resolution all flow nicely.

Yeah, it defo fits in with a fake (or real who knows =) one of those old iTunes dancey commercials:

that would get on ur nerves (aka get stuck in ur head all day =) Maybe *ahem* use fair use & rip one off + remix with ur track? That gliss thing is just annoying enough to sell soda, as a bonus! Maybe put a warning (topic title) that tis not a linear piece, moar a series of "stings" almost?
