I want to be able to browse "kits" in the user library but have them displayed nice and neat like the Maschine expansions show in the hardware (and software)browser....obviously, the assholes at NI don't want us to have such functionality...probably for obvious reasons.

There was someone on the NI forums who actually achieved this, but on MAC only. His workaround doesn't work on WIN machines.

 

Check out maschine masters, i have a few displaying with pictures in the browser etc

 

niche audios maschine packs do exactly what you are saying, have a look at those

I meant that I want to create my own custom packs and have them show up in the browser like the third party and Maschine expansions

 

make the pack like you normally would then go to iconmaschine.com and make the pictures. it costs a little bit if you are trying to get something going then they will help that. they even have instructions.

 

Hey, yea I used this service before...it's pretty convenient but it doesn't allow you to create "kits" as in groups..it will make the images for you to have displayed under the samples tab in a "kit" folder...

but I'm trying to make an image for a *group* of 16 sounds...so that I can load the whole kit with one click...kind of like how it was done in Battery.

 

Can you point us to this? I use a mac. This sounds helpful.

however, the scripts have not been tested in Windows and I cannot get them to work. Maybe someone who has more knowledge around python than i do is interested?

 

Been a long time since this post ... but I recently ran into the same need.

These scripts can work pretty well under windows : Here is how I achieved to have them working.
1) You first need to install WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux) on your system
2) Install Ubuntu (tested here with 18.04 LTS, but should also be working with newer versions)
3) Launch a terminal in ubuntu, and install python 3 with the command line : sudo apt-get install python3
4) Check that install is OK. You can issue the command line : which python3
It should answer something like "/usr/bin/python3"
5) Launch the NiMBank script with "python3 /mnt/<drive where the nimbank.py file is>/path/to/the/nimbank.py [options] /mnt/<drive of your mxgrp files>/path/to/the/mxgrp_files/*.mxgrp

You need to use the /mnt/ path root to access the files on your drive : every drive will have a letter in the /mnt/ folder; then you will find your usual paths below this (except "/" replaces "\" since you are using linux ...).
