so here is one real irritation in FL at this time, for me.
    Naming and Re-Naming channels/tracks.
E.G: I name a track One and give it a yellow colour.
If i do this via channels window i need to go to mixer and press Ctrl + L and the mixer track is thus named.
so far, so good. a quick visit to the playlist window also requires that 'autoname' is clicked and now there is a playlist track named also.
all instances ( 3 so far) are in accord. Three instances called track One and colored yellow...
now, try and rename something in that chain. if i change the name and then go to the mixer channel it still has the older name and colour. instaed of updating this to a new name, you have to first delete that name and then rename. this is the procedure for all instances. there is no way to repopulate the naming across all instances. and if i do rename something i suddenly end up with a empty square icon next to the name which means i have to click to rename again to get rid of the square icon.
this is one of those things that makes workflow a grind. is there any possibility of global naming and renaming?
    it would be so useful.
this and having some way to copy and paste 'seperate'instances of clips instead of 'Make Unique'.. that's a topic for another day...

Where do you click autoname? In the playlist? :woot: I did not even now that you could do this with all three together. Pretty cool!

I read somewhere (probably in IL forum) that they wanted to do sth about that (tightening mixer and playlist linking) until 20.1..?... Not sure what this was about exactly. But frick yeah. Would improve workflow a whole lot.
Still Global rename sounds a bit day-dreamy.

Hope they'll do that in future update, that seems to be something lot of people were expecting in the 20 version.

I probably spend hours and hours renaming channel, putting colors and icons so everything match. It's like my 20/40 minutes rituel before every mix session (I do the mix in a differrent project to make in more clear and have some kind of back up, but my production project looks like a mess because it take too much time doing that)

But it shouldn't. The seemingly much more complicated task of tracking all assignments has already been done.
Yet this simple thing seems beyond the ability or imagination of the same people who did the rest...
Of course time and resources must be allocated to the task, but it seems it should have been done as part of the overall scheme.

  6. It to me at this point is totally nuts not to have given this time sucking pita priority over cosmetic beautification. What ia the point of NOT taking care of this.

That's simply because of how FL workflow is designed.
If you assign multiple channels to a mixer track and change the name of only one of those channels the mixer track must remain the same. Same goes for playlist lines, you can have different patterns with different channels, and as long as a line can contain multiple elements the same reasoning applies to that as well.
If they made it the way you want rest assured that countless users would have the opposite problem.
What you might want is not necessarily the best for the kind of workflow FL intends to rely on, and if you really can't deal with the way it was designed to work (because that's intended to behave like that) it's time to consider switching to another daw because it's very, very unlikely that they will change the way it works.

do not naming the tracks automatically, if you do that will confused you so its better leave them blank.
in studio one i only naming the bus not individual tracks, but fl studio cant create bus folder, that means you must notice their name

nooooo.. i need to be able to see what's what. really 'not renaming' is not an option. i need to have all my stuff laid out clearly. that's my preference and it makes producing stuff a much smoother process. however, it seems a bit odd that the undo function does not work properly either. that would be a great thing to be addressed in future.
anyway, take a look at this, looks like they heard us : )

Thanks for that answer, which makes perfect sense.
What DOESN'T make perfect sense to ME is why instruments are added as "Channel" , as that was standard for mixer "channels", but I may be coming from the ancient past with that, and I guess hey'd have had to create a new term or use something perhaps less intuitive.

The terminology can get mixed up, with the mixer channels being called "inserts" (that works fine for me, tho) and the "tracks" means here what it always used to (a timeline-based format or on tape, disk,etc.).
The "playlist lines" being called "tracks" here as well.

All that aside, you made the important point which explains the seeming oversight.
The flexibility would mean having to present a dialog of some type to choose what to rename the mixer channel.
    OK, mixer "INSERT"

i rarely send mutliple channels to one mixer track. i tend to do the organizing of names etc. at the earliest stage of a project in FL to try and avoid it becoming a chore. as i say, it's obviously the way it is for a reason on Image lines partbut i find it hard to believe that a method could not be worked out for global renaming... at least make the renaming 'un-doable'. This undo alone can drive you wiggy in FL. i think Image Line should give some thought to creating the ability to customize keyboard shortcuts and preferences. There are quite a few un-assigned keys in FL that could be put to use.
these are trivial concerns, but they are the kind of irritant that can drive you [ me] crazy at times. i am just soeculating on future iterations...
