Any with experience when it comes to hydrophones? What do you think is the ultimate hydrophone price/quality? Thanks in advance. Cheers
We have worked with some, but for scientific purposes, not for music/media production. I would say, it highly depends on what you want to do with them. There is also a lot of DIY in this area. The Reson TC4032 is really great (quite expensive though). But again, it depends on your goals.
I am also looking for a quite long time for a hydrophone. Looks like I will build one myself and see how good the recordings get.
I once rented the Aquarian H2A, but I wasn't impressed very much. It's affordable though. Here's another low priced Hydrophone: http://hydrophones.blogspot.com/2011/05/c-series-pro-hydrophones-new-addition.html Higher budget options are: Burns Aquaear, DPA 8011 & Ambient ASF-1, but haven't used them myself.
