Novelty is using ear for blending the notes without any prescribed chord progression. Chord progression is the most stupid idea been formed throughout the history for making fast music for lazy persons and people don't want to think about the single notes.

 

At the beginning of your pearl of wisdom, there is a Bm9 gravitating around C#7alt/Ab (ivm9 ► V7Alt)...

As someone said, there is even a Spanish flavor in the progression D Major 7 [plus some dissonance in bass]►C#7alt = VIM7 ► V7Alt ... ???

Fast music = Fast Food. Most people love it and I can't do anything about it. 20 and 21 century's music are all about fast music and developing techniques for that and the reason is the advent of the electronic media and their needs for polluting the air. Everyone can access it in any time.
