I currently use my laptop for composing and producing. It has 120GB SSD for Windows 7 OS and 1TB SSHD for storage. Most plug ins are in the SSHD. My question is whether it is worth to replace 1TB SSHD with SSD. Would it be faster to load the plug ins? Or it would be the same? Most of time, loading plug ins takes lots of time. It has been faster though than I used only SSHD, but still slow for it.

There might be other bottlenecks such as CPU, & also depenz on which plugs you use & budget.

Do you keep your plugins on the slower 1TB drive? And if so, why? My whole "vstplugins" folder has 15-20 GB? So if you are talking about like the usual synths (Massive, Sylenth, Serum etc etc..) and effects (Fabfilter, iZotope, Waves..), and if you keep them on main SSD, there will be no difference.

If by plugins you mean something like omnisphere, sampletank.. (plugin plus the library) and you put the library on an SSD, there will be a huge difference. Not for plugin loading time itself, but for library content loading and browsing.. Mind that you may fill 1TB with omni, keyscape, sapletank.. not to mention kontakt libs, pretty fast.

It all comes to budget.. if you have $$, you should only have SSDs (or faster things) around. If not, it's all about priorities..

Edit: sorry, I see now. You keep the plugins on the hybrid drive. You should keep plugins on your fastest (main) dive.. but you probably ran out of space (120 GB is a bit tight..)

Man, it's just different levels. Your life will become so much better. I thought everyone already switched to SSD.

That is the same as asking? Do you think a Ferrari would be faster than my bicycle? The SSD is going to make everything faster. Everything that you currently do that involves the SSHD. As with a Ferrari you HAVE to consider the cost. It is very expensive compared to SSHD or HDD. Remember that some libraries do take a lot of storage space. If you can afford it go for it. Keep all plugins on system drive and move all your libraries to the other drive. Like driving a Ferrari, once you try a system with everything on SSD you would not look again at the bicycle (the SSHD).

I dont even know why now you have your plugins on the SSHD. That is a NO NO! Your plugins should be on your system drive that is the SSD and your libraries on your SSHD.

UpdatE: One thing that I forgot to mention is that the Data folder in your C: drive can be and should be moved to the other drive (whether SSD or SSHD or HHD) and pointed to C: by way of symbolic links . A lot of plugins store there libraries there. And those libraries can eat your 120 GB SSD capacity in no time. By moving it out of C: drive with your current configuration you can save space to have your plugins where they should.

If you need help with the symblolic links contact me by PM and I will guide you. It is very simple.

Speaking on my experience... I bought 2 2tb samsung 850 evo drives on ebay for 400 each, and got a 1tb 960 evo drive... definitely changed my life. Kontakt libraries, Omnisphere, keyscape, sessions, plugins everything pull up faster. There's nothing like clicking a library and it pull up before you blink.. or moving huge sessions and libraries over to another drive and they finish within seconds.

In the meantime you can theoretically squeeze everything important (plugins included!) to your SSD drive. With some clever rearranging and managing the space - like moving the Program Data away, as TonyG suggested, you could set up a passable system. You'd have to be careful to have for instance only the current project active and move the files away, when you start another. So, no luxury.. but doable.
    Good luck!
