Maybe that gives you a better idea of the FL Studio user base in 2018, and you coming here soliciting for a FL Studio thread made my day, lol.

Fl Studio has it's merits for creative production and became popular for a good reason, I used it for 2 years myself. Ultimately the un-intuitive mixer and mixing workflow forced me to look elsewhere and that's when I discovered Studio One v2. I was Reaper, Live, and S1 until this past year and now I'm all S1 for production, mixing, and mastering, S1 has slowly become a complete all around DAW for my needs.

That all around ability is why there are so many S1 views, until FL Studio raises it's game to the competition it will continue to loose users with small limited numbers participating in the FL Studio threads, but If it works for you as a tool just keep using it.

As always, to each their own DAW.

You should search on the web, your controller must work for S1.I had the same problem with my Akai Advance when I bought it and now it works.
S1 receives midi cc messages, which is the most universal!
I think the problem comes from your controller, search in its parameters/options,then transport, and select midi CC.
Then in Studio One click like I show to you on the picture:

    Select your controller.
    Then S1 displays this window:

Now you click on "Midi Learn",then push on the 3 buttons of your controller successively, like PLAY,REC and STOP.
You will have 3 new "controls" which appear on the window. You can rename them if you want, like PLAY,REC and STOP.
You click like on the picture on the 3 controls and select "button on/off".

On the same window,Right click on your 3 "controls" and you chose the function for each of your 3 buttons of your controller, like on the picture:

Then Reclick on "Midi Learn",close this window.
    That's it !
    Hope this will help!

one thing i noticed today and that may cause problems for someone else when they move a song to another machine is you will be missing the samples in Impact XT.

i thought they would be saved as complementary audio files in your song folder if you had checked that option but nope!

so beware, just had that nasty surprise today. :snuffy:

I realize this quote was from 2014 but Studio One seems like the #1 DAW Ableton users switch to. I've never made the jump because my entire song catalog is Ableton projects and I'm really happy with Live. Are you still using Studio One and digging it? Is there a anything you noticeably missed or gain when you switched? Would appreciate any insight on this!

I just can't believe that few simple functions like "heal splits" and "separate stereo track to two L & R mono tracks" inside arranger view are not yet implemented. Not to mention that Reaper can time-stretch event both from left and right side of the file, while S1 can still do it only by dragging from the right side of the file, but I could live without it. I like S1, but these two (three) functions are crucial for my workflow and almost every other DAW has it. I guess I'll have to wait for new Melodyne ARA 2 and have the safe harbor in Reaper for the rest of time :D

Coming from Ableton, the UI is a blessing. So much easier to work with

When it comes to arranging tracks, gainstaging, and having multi bus compression setups, Ableton just doesn't cut it. It's way to cumbersome

Also the CPU is way more efficient in S1. I can track guitar and sing at the same time with 40 something plugins running. On the same machine Ableton doesn't come close

Can't wait for the rest of the Studio One 4 goodies to come out

I followed these suggestions, S1 doesn't hang, but still many vsts are not recognized, like toontrack or sugarbites, and so on. The only way is to reinstall them, but they are well recognized from S1 v3.5, so......this v4 is a real pain in the *ss.
At least here in win7/64, don't know if win 10 is better

I really liked v.2 GUI and all the features it had. But since v.3 with the black, flat GUI and wanting to cram as much info in one window made it overcrowded and difficult to work with and look at. I think that they are trapped in their original concept of all in one window. I tried the v.4 demo and it seems to be getting worse in that regards. I also don't like the way it handles the saving of project which I find restrictive and awkward compared to other DAW's.

wow, I found the way to properly install all plugins......no particular firewall or net configuration. I simply renamed VSTplugins folder (VSTplugins1, for example), I created an empty one with the old name (VSTPlugins). It followed a clean install (uninstall S1 v4, deleting manually all roaming Presonus S1 V4 folders, not erased during automatic uninstall).
Then I loaded step by step the empty plugins folder, copying and pasting from the renamed one, with limited amount of vsts each time, and each time starting S1v4 to let it scanning the new added plugins. The pluginscanner.exe seems to hate to do the job all at once, above all if you have a big amount of plugins.
Now everything is loaded with no hangings: remember at the end to delete Vstplugins1 folder :winker:

If it's any use, no problems here on legit S1 v4 Professional (Win 7 x64)
On the first plugins scan all VST2 & VST3 .dll's and plugin folders scanned correctly and working fine. Only one plugin failed on first scan (AIR flanger - also legit) but after resetting blacklist it loaded correctly too.
Since then everything is running smoothly. And this is coming from die-hard Reaper fan

I thank you all for your comments.
I hadn't problems scanning plugins except one I don't remember because I'm just playing with it for the moment.
I'm waiting for a version like 4.1 to seriously use it so I can't give solid tips but I really dig what I've seen so far.

Never really looked too far into Studio One, but caught a video recently and it looks pretty good. Turns out I have the Studio One 4 Artist software because I own a Presonus AudioBox iOne and never registered it till today. I'mma play around with it later today.

I use FL Studio primarily and pretty much know FL in and out. I've played with Ableton and Logic and much prefer FL Studio if that gives any hint on my DAW workflow preference.

Does anyone have any insight on if this is a good replacement though? And would I be missing out on anything with the Artist license versus the full Professional license that can't really be ignored?

As far as I know, a lot of those who have been using FL and Live, switched to S1 after the update. 4th version has a lot of new "production tools" from people's requests, from people, which wanted to stop to use FL and\or Live as their second DAW. But you have to try it yourself.

And yes, Artist version is useless. Pro is your bro. :winker:
