It would be great if they would either change the tempo drawing or give a secondary automated function for tempo. there have still been so many backwards ass things about this daw that are unforgivable. the goal is to only need one daw. if you don't support 7.1 and I have to manually draw in the tempo changes with that raggedy as hell draw option I will always need a different daw at some point. and how many tiers will there be to version 4? how much will you have to shell out just to use your plugins that you've paid all that money for?

That is the inherit problem with all technology and software is no different. You end up with software/Tech that is never completed and then a new version is launched. It's a world of endless upgrades which leaves you with software/tech out of date and no longer supported. If Studio 4 is forthcoming, I'm personally still having issues with v 3, it will be the same, the bugs can never be ironed out, leading to endless roll out of maintenance updates and upgrades 'til you find you've invested time and money in yet another product to be left with something that will never be finished and version 5 is launched as the new saviour to all your DAW needs. Cyclical merry-go-round and we keep falling for it.

BillyRay, I'm not sure there's any other way though. Even hardware lives in that mode now.

If this is true then ARA 2 must be coming on that day as well. I haven't seen anything from Celemony stating that. This would also mean that Reaper with ARA 2 support will be released.

ive since a while ago started to use open source as much as I could in graphics, since there are certain great apps coming up.
open source work out of another logic and many times manage to make excellent programs, with updates that are truly user focused and can in many cases replace commercial software, it all depends of the strength of the community around them.

i (subconsciously) looked down towards open source in the past. and i was extremely obsessed with having the latest features in all software, its part of the consumer-mania we all know.

then, as I started to spend more time with actual production and less with "trends" and features, i recognised new features were the least of my worries for real production. sure, there are some things that can be considered vital but for the most time few are crucial.

in audio im just starting to look around, hopefully ill be expanding my use and dependency on open source in this are too, but that will depend on the quality of the open source apps and their communities, when they are strong they make the package unbeatable. specially in days were corporations get bought, put down or deteriorate with us just having to witness their downfall.

Yeah I've been down that route too and your right there are some funtastic open source programs which, if you have the perseverance, can replace commercial programs. When it comes to the Audio world specifically DAW's it's very limiting. Harrison Mixbus is a hybrid of Ardour and you can run Reaper in Wine with some reasonable results but as you say without the community supporting such a venture it falters.
Trying to ween yourself off the perpetual loop of updates & upgrades is sadly near impossible. Still it's good to know I'm not the only tortured soul lol.

Open source is a great idea in theory but you spend a ton of time tinkering same as with Reaper..........

Just read a post over on GearSlutz that states the following:
Recording Magazine June issue delivered today has full page Ad for Studio One 4.

    Ad copy says:

    Produce Without Limits.
