I've been trying to make this bass sound for a very long time without any success.

I'm sure it's a h/w synth but I should be able to get close using plugins.

Anyone have any tips it would be appreciated

 

It sounds like a square waveform bass.

 

Agreed, it’s a square bass but the processing is the part I’m interested in. Sounds like the cutoff has automation or an envelope applied that I can never seem to get right

Square/Pulse + sine. Lowpass filter envelope.
No Moog needed. You can do this with the freeware TAL NoiseMaker.

 

Pulse + Sine 1octave lower
Filter envelope: only decay
Lowcut/Highcut EQ
Tiny bit overdrive
Maybe tape instead of the highcut
Compression

 

strangely that sound makes me think its a fm synth
sounds like a modified donk/Hollow bass patch made more plucky and tamed like used in garage tunes.

watch this video --at the 2:30 mark -- a frame of Sonny in the studio..you can see him tweaking the LFO of a Miniatur.

 

Well i'm no sound engineer but i'm just gonna put my 2 cents.. Have a look at patch "TR-SH101 Deep" from omnisphere and layer it with a moog sound..

 

This is definitely the sound of Moog square wave bass with those smooth LP filters.

The closest recreate in software I could get was with NI Monark.

Here's a screenshot of the patch:

 

You come close with a moog but not spot on because it is not a moog.
This patch with Sylenth is phasing while played together with the original..

And you could also set the phase of the oscillators at 180degrees.
