All I can tell you about Waves installation is... doubleclick setup.exe with the left mouse button and press "OK" or "next" for everything. That's how I do it, really. It is that easy. :) What part of this you'd like explained in more detail?

It just makes me wonder how people who cannot install some plugins are able to use a computer at all. Why do you bother? You should first learn the basics of how to use an operating system, then you won't have to ask such stupid things. That's the problem with people today - they all want fast food and nobody wants to cook! First learn how to cook, dude. It will make your life much easier.

Gosh, I'm almost 50 and could be your father probably. You should be ashamed that I have to teach you anything, but especially how to use a computer properly.

Once you manage to install the OS, all the drivers, supporting, cleaning and other apps you use without problems, you will be able to install Waves and everything else without having to ask anybody anything.

    Cheers!

That usually indicates a problem with VC++ runtimes, but you could try rescanning VST plugins first. If VC is the problem, try uninstalling them all and reinstalling the newest versions. Here's a helpful app to do it: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/visual_c_runtime_installer.html

    DuckDuckGo search shows this: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=waves+gui+missing&t=ffnt&ia=web

That's how I found a helpful GS thread about it: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/631281-waves-vanishing-gui-problem.html

Maybe this could help, if you're using an AMD VGA: "had the same issue with studio one and most of the waves plugins...randomly downloaded some older catalyst video driver pack from 2012 and installed it instead of the latest one....works fine now [IMG]"

I'm always telling people that it is not the best to just blindly use the latest drivers for everything. My Nvidia driver is from ~2010 and it works perfectly with everything. I tested about a dozen of them until I decided on this one. If using Nvidia VGA try the latest in 2nd series [296.xx] if your VGA is supported. Then try the driver from the manufacturers website if that doesn't work. These are usually the best, most tested drivers.

Oh and I use W7 and XP for audio, and no internet, of course. Just when it's really, really [really] necessary. Linux is made for Internet. :)

I'm sorry I was rude. I sometimes lose my patience, especially last couple of years since my heart surgery... it happens when you get older, I suppose. I always try to help people if I can and I have vast [20+y] computer hardware and software experience, especially with audio and video applications.

    Cheers! :headbang:

installed as directed and no plugins showing in DAWs. Is there a better recent package with all sound content, that works?

No worries. I've never had an issue with waves before. I guess that's why I got testy as well.

I've tried just about everything on your list at least 3 times. It's got to be the directory I'm using.

Studio rack works just fine but that's all I can see and that's running from my vst3 common files folder. Once I tell studio one to read from the waves plugin folder all of them appear just no gui.

If they can't handle some humor

actually on a serious note, waves is the first thing to instal on a fresh production machine after installing a daw.

I ussually decline to help friends who have a messed up waves installation if they refuse to reinstall windows

I've encountered a "Waves no GUI" situation on one of the computers and I was completely surprised. Then I remembered VC++ and OpenGL are important for them, so I tried re-installing an older version of Waves and it worked. Now I'm not sure what helped to get the GUIs back... probably just re-installing VC++ runtimes in this case.

Although I personally don't use Waves much, yes it is the first thing to install after installing a DAW... it's like a disease ffs. No matter what anyone says, including me, these are excellent "stock" plugins and oh so useful, especially ren/v/ssl/api/cla plugins.

It might be that. Since I started using Windows 7 I set up a VST folder in the root of the system drive [e.g. C:\VST] due to sometimes plugins having troubles writing things into a Program Files directory. Maybe try installing Waves in some other directory, indeed. However, I know they don't write anything into Program Files or VST folders. Waves use appdata in the users folder, if I remember correctly.
