I'm working sometimes with midi files DL from internet, most of them are basslines and when I play them with instrument sounds very quiet on low notes even if I boost low levels to make it sound better it's still sounds bad. Any solution ?

check the velocity. Other than that compression may help level things out. It would also help if you posted what plugins you use to play the midi. There are limits to some things and most plugins can only be played properly within a certain range. You may be going below it for that particular plugin.

However I would say first check the velocity settings on the notes and make sure they aren't on low.

 

Also, if bass lines, make sure they aren't an octave or two, too low.. try transposing higher.. see how that sounds, will def. be louder..

Most bass only sounds right at a certain octave depending on the instruments used.

Mostly I use Trilian as a bassline instrument, and I always check velocity there is nothing to correct. Not sure what is wrong, when I play double notes ( two notes layered in the same place) it sounds louder and better.

Yes I do play also higher notes, but then bass sounds to high if you know what I mean.

 

If velocity and octaves isn't a problem, try setting up higher gain inside the Trilian, I think by default it's -6db, so push it higher let say 0db

what daw are u using?

 

maybe an automation messing up ?

 

CC7 ......... simple look at that i bet they lowered the level.

Also look for any changes to CC11 that also effects instrument levels.
