I've always wanted to know how to isolate or cut out a sample from a song!

Like Girl Talk for example, his samples are clean and he mixes them together without any background noise from the tracks.

If anyone could please tell me how, that would save me a lot of work, thanks!

    Sorry, can't replay the vid.
High and low cuts, phase inverting the side (m/s) and spectral editing can be helpful.

oh nice software.... but i think, you do not need it... just use ableton zoom function and fab q2 eq, to do all these things you saw in the video, without any other software..

Looks like both SpectraLayers Pro 5 and iZotope RX6 are my best options!
Could anyone let me know about either program, or which works better?
For the purposes of isolating samples, of course!

They're pretty similar, RX looks better, SpectraLayers seems more intuitive (to me, probably because I know it better) & doesn't try to do your thinking for you.
You are not going to get clean samples most of the time, these things are not magic. If the sound you're trying to get rid of is simple, like this:

(Sony demo vid; Search for "SpectraLayers Demo" on YouTube), the results will be great, if that + clear harmonic series, also pretty good, but anything more complex will have a hollow, phaseshifty/flangey quality.
    SpectraLayers free trial: https://www.magix.com/int/free-download/spectralayers-pro/
    Izaotope free trial: https://www.izotope.com/en/support/product-downloads.html?tagFilter=products:product-family/rx
Cracked versions are all over the intertubes.

There's also stuff like https://www.reddit.com/r/IsolatedVocals/ etc. you can check out.

A good thing to try before any spectral extraction would be to use Adobe Audition's Center Channel Extractor w/ either Acapella or Vocal remove. If the sample is mixed to the center (vocals usually are) that should give you a cleaner place to start with.

I believe Izotope RX has a Center Channel extractor as well but imho the Audition one gets better results and has more settings to dial it in.....

Quick-quak (developer) makes a plaugin called Mashtactic that might be helpful if you don't need perfection (its definitely less complicated than Spectral Layers but the it's really rudimentary in what it does).

I'd recommend trying the center channel extractor stuff first and then work off the results you get from those.

The tool tools mentioned work for just 'interesting' results imo. Chop samples old school if you want to maintain the punch. Try using Adobe Audition if you decide to try that. Extracting a layer winds up sounding a little phasy and grainy to me, but sometimes muting the sides and focusing on the center (or vice versa) yields interesting cutts for your library. I like dissecting Max Martin mixes (m/s) and chopping randomly for a half-second or 2.....or 3 or 4.

    just my opinion :)

    Happy chopping!
