Ive been checking out alot of amp simulators lately, th2 , amplitude 3 , guitar rig 5 , and now recabinet.. so basically im having a problem of not being able to turn up my amp past 2 without some popping of my amp while using th2 and i definately dont want to blow it... and recabinet said it would recommend i use thd hot plate with it...what im asking basically is any suggestions for correctly using amp simulators thru my line 6 pod x3 as an audio interface without blowing up my amp.. i play thru a crate mx120r.. any other questions you have or if i wasnt clear enough just let me know.. thanks in advance!

    @ ImperceptiveSociety,

Create a New 'Empty' Preset (or take one that you don't use regularly and which you don't care too much to overwrite) and deactivate all the Modules (Amps, Pedals, FXs,... ) available :

    Ex: AMP:[OFF] LINE 6 OCTONE

When you have set a 'New' Preset (or a Factory Preset) this way, simply save it with the desired name.
You have now a Preset that is 'flat', thus it will serve you to just send the audio signal coming from your guitar(s) to the desired DAWs (with Overloud TH2, GuitarRig, AmpliTube,... ), but also directly within these same 'Amp Simulations' in case that you want to use their 'Standalone' counterparts.

As the signal is not processed (dry) when passing through your 'Line6 POD X3', you can then feed the desired 'Amp Simulations' without fearing to blow up your Amp. In case you feel that you're still 'blowing up' your Amp, now the trouble comes rather from the 'Drives', 'Gains' & 'Volumes' of the several elements (Stompboxes, Distos, Amps, Preamps,... ) used within your 'Amp Simulations', no more from your 'Line6 POD X3'... so simply check all these parameters.

However, you can still use some Modules of your 'Line6 POD X3' if desired, but rather use those that don't rely on high volumes, drives and/or gains. I have a 'Line6 POD X3 Pro' that is one of my main 'Audio Interfaces', and sometimes I add the internal 'Gate', 'Compressors', 'Choruses', 'Delays',... but I avoid all the 'Stompboxes', 'Distos', 'Amps',... as I use the others 'Amp Simulations' Plug-Ins for this purpose (Crunchy, Hi-Gain, Distorted,... sounds).
In some way, I think is what you're looking for, isn't ?

A last suggestion will be for the 'Input Gain' of the 'Line6 POD X3'. Within my model : 'X3 Pro', I can set this one from -12dB to +12dB. Personally, I set it at '-10dB' most of the time (and it works fine for me), but you can set it the way you need depending the guitar(s) used and mainly the Pickups (Single Coils or Humbuckers).
In fact, you must to find the best compromise between this 'Input Gain' and all the 'Drives', 'Gains' & 'Volumes' available within your several used 'Amp Simulations'...

Hope it help in some way... and let's rock !!! :guitarhero: :headbang:

Preamp/mixers always help I have a podxt live and high Independence jacks limit the output....even though you can turn it down its not recommended that you use it that way especially if you are using a speaker cable used to transmit power. Make sure to use an instrument cable going out along with pre-amp because the one moment you nock the volume nob and you hear a fzfzfzfzzzzzzzzz pop....well ya
