Hey there,

I felt like posting what i've been doing recently as it's quite a change of genre for me.

I'm 27 and I've been tampering in electronic music for a decade, a bit techno, a bit instrumental, never posted anything substantial (literally just a sketch for an old radiohead rework collab on my soundloud) since i never really made music for anyone but myself.

But a couple months ago i've finally clicked, i listen to a lot of older bands among other things and i play quite a few instruments, played with a band recently and finally decided to do my own thing. Electronic used to be a hobby, but now i want to do my own rock thing, and maybe consider putting it out there in the future.

Anyway my main influences would be Joy Division and The Cure (mostly Desintegration) for the overall "vibe", something dark and rough but minimal. I'm only gonna go for a bass track, a couple of guitar tracks and for the drums i've recently fallen in love with old drum machines blended in rock music, i really love the clash of these two. And finally i might add a synth but i have yet to make a patch i am satisfied with.
In the process to find a singer/poet.

Anyway, here are a couple of short drafts that have made the cut and that i feel i've found my style with.
It's gonna be really rough on the ears, i don't think about mixing and mastering until i've completed a general full length arrangement usually so be warned, the recordings aren't perfect or exactly in time and the drums are still basic.

Very Cure/Joy sounding to me, being a fan. I'm interested to hear where a singer might take this. That'll make or break it. Good job on your end.

 

Both tracks show promise... Just get them completed... pretty awesome if you are just starting out in this direction...
