Hello! I recently dropped 25 big ones on a pack of FM8 patches - they came in a folder of .nfm8 files and when I try and open them with the open sound tab it only allows .ksd files to be opened.

I browsed the internet and people with similar problems were told to open FM8 as a standalone, add the folder and rebuild the database, I did that but it's done absolutely nothing.

It must be said I'm on an offline PC and I'm using a moody copy of FM8 - do I need a updated/legit version of FM8?

Upon further reading, it seems that updated versions use nfm8 files as opposed to ksd files which the older versions use.

 

Yep, you need to update newer version. Same thing was with massive long time ago(preset format change)
