Hi all,

I regrettably installed some dodgy ilok hack to try out some software before spending £800 on it.

It's causing my macbookpro to randomly restart.

It's a crack by HOOK.

Can anyone tell me how to undo:

- Open one Terminal and hit the following commands, one at a time:

sudo chmod 775 /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.*

sudo chown 0:0 /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.*

totally regret it!

Must be something else in your system to make the random restart…
I doubt that a simple permissions reset command (sudo chmod) to a single file does such "damage"
The two commands above are harmless and only affecting the content in Applications/ilok folder

Anyway, to "undo" the actions, just trash the ilok folder and see what happens...

 

Thanks for getting back to me. That fixed it (getting rid of the ilok folder). It also had disabled quicktime for some reason. Seems that a few others have had the same issue. Funny thing is I've been mostly legit with my SW (own everything finally) but that was one that I'd probably only use once and couldn't afford the £800 cost. But better than not having a laptop, lol.
