    Hi guys and gals.

I have simple question, which way is better to bounce midi files. Whit applied EQ's or without and then working on audio files and add EQ's ?

There is no "better", it's just different ways of working with audio. Some do it as a creative process ("resampling") where it opens up alot of new doors of audio manipulation. Others do it (freeze/render/bounce/export) simply just to reduce CPU workload.

It's all up to you, what works best for you.

If you have removed frequencies with filters and render, you will never get those frequencies back (from the audio file). Stuff like that, which you probably already knew.

Thx, actually I ask this question because I had feeling that, rendered midi to audio sounds better. I don't know if any of you feel the same. So I was thinking that maybe, is some difference, not large, but it is ?

No. It's all in your head. Same with "this DAW sounds better than that DAW".

    ^ this

My personal workflow is too cut unnecessary things immediately to make some space, so in 90% of cases it's bounced like that :)

I like the recording approach of working, which means that you can leave the chirurgical EQ's intact (if you are sure about the amount of cut frequencies) if you are not it's better not to cut to much frequencies. I have build up such a routine that I know which frequencies I can cut. In the recording industry they first clean up all unnecessary frequencies for a clean recording and if necessary they even use some compression to control the levels the FX and boosting is taken care of in the mixing process. If you do stem mastering like me it's better to have all tracks clean and polished before the mastering stage. I try to do most things like mixing on the original edit. Because if I have made a mistake I can easily correct that in the original project.
Why? Easy because you have to do all the cleaning in the mastering process you will end up with high CPU loads. and in the first generation DAW's did not have delay compensation. That's why I've learned myself this way of mixing. Stem mastering is also way more flexible as track mastering.

I used to have the same feeling actually, since I've noticed that => your VST tracks could kill your CPU and the quality of sound... now if you bounce those tracks, your CPU will drop down and you'll find the sound better, more fluid.
But it's just about the listening experience, that doesn't affect the audio quality of the final project (after being bounced).
