    I've playing around with the Live 10 Demo, it was interesting. The new Wavetable Synthesizer is not a bad tone generator, and the built in effects are not bad. It was an interesting time sink, but I don't see myself giving up on Logic/DP/Samp. I am going to wait it out Logic is still a beast especially considering how little it costs and I've been on DP and Samp for so long I am just brainwashed into doing things a certain way.

    I can see the draw for Live, the built in synths are pretty flexible, but the hardware control isn't as deep as I would like or maybe it I just didn't dig deep enough. Still holding out hope that MOTU will actually work on DP and make a beast that is equally good on both platforms... on can dream.

    The Live 10 project for people who enjoy looking at such things.

    Very nice work, even more for just a trial evaluation.
    Although you are right with 80's Polysynths, the 80's were already heavyly digital, with The Art Of Noise or Yello (take a look at 80-85 The new mix in one go). :)
    However, I would not recommend the use of any solely DAW integrated Instrument, since I would have to stick with that DAW...like forever, if that instrument isn't portable, like vst or au. I doubt that this Wavetable synth is available separately - that would be an exception for Ableton. Therefore, as an Ableton/Reaper/Cubase user I don't rely on most of those goodies, they are nice but only for the purpose of customer loyalty.

    @Kinghtsurfer :

    Thank you glad you enjoyed it.

    @trutzburg :

    I agree that one should never get a DAW based what instruments it has natively, I was just messing around WT and I thought it sounded cool enough to get a workout. It doesn't take long to get decent sounds out of it, which is an important thing when messing around trying to recreate old sounds or create new sounds. Though it doesn't hurt a DAW if it has solid and well throughout bonuses, aside from workflow and most importantly for me at least stability there isn't really anything that distinguishes these DAWs from each other.

    As far as portability goes... I've always been a little ambivalent on the subject. MIDI is portable and that's about all I need, most of the tone generators I use are external hardware units, or old school instruments... so for my particular workflow recorded tracks and stems are fine, and so are just sheet music or midi files. I do understand the benefits or recall and portability though, I am just not that complicated.

    I get what you are saying though and I agree they are more a loyalty reward or an enticement for new users than anything else after you've been in the game long enough to collect a few choice synthesizers that you personally enjoy and that can use in any DAW.

    Live really comes into it's own with a Push controller. You can control and dive as deep as you wish. Add Max into the equation and there's really nothing like it, and nothing it can't do musically...
