hi all

I'm facing issues with 4K to mp3 and 4K video downloader who don't seem to work anymore ( even mediahuman )

I'm on 10.9.5
anybody knows an easy to use video downloader / music converter for youtube ?
even the apps from my browsers won't do it anymore because youtube and google are teaming up to forbid users to download ( meanwhile, they have the monopoly and monetize content creator peanuts ... )

Never had a problem with blocked videos and you can choose to download the video or just the soundtrack. Choice of quality for vids and music also plus it handles conversions. Downside is you have to pay for it.

The best video downloader for Youtube and many other websites is this: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/ It is Open Source.

It's for Linux, OSX and Windows. It is a command-line program. Still it is not so hard to use. You just put in youtube-dl -F [url of the video] to see the available formats, then download it with youtube-dl -fx [url of the video] where x is the number of the format you choose. You can also use mixed formats like this -fx+y where x is the video format and y the audio format. You can also download just video or audio in the best quality available without *any conversion* .

I have tried many video downloaders, but this one is the only one that works every time with all the websites. Download Flash & Video and Video DownloadHelper add-ons for Firefox are not bad, either, but they often not work for higher than 720p videos.

easiest way to download mp3 from video (or video) from youtube - is add "ss" at the beginning of the addressю

you don't need to install anything, just add "ss" in address line, press enter, choose format/options and click button (or right click on button and save as...)
btw, some other services are also supported.

THis method is ok for one song, but what if you want to download an entire playlist as mp3?

 

youtubedl the gui from github , it downloads entire playlists , its free , it downloads from twitch and many other websites

 

I'm able to download yt videos copying its address to the standalone FreeDownloadManager app (that has an add-on for firefox and other browsers, that I use to manage multiple downloads). On mac however I experience an error when choosing the highest res option for that particular video. On windows luckily it does't happen though.

If you just manage to download the video and need further step to get the audio only in mp3 format, you can open the audio part of video file in Sound Forge and save it in mp3.

I installed their extension for chrome, on youtube (and on other supported services) I see button near the player frame and can choose format for downloading.

lifehack with this extension: it can download music from social networks (I prefer vk.com to stay connected with friends and listen music) and showing bitrate of mp3. so I use this function as bitrate checker for best quality before adding music to my account.

and second lifehack. today I rendered audio for my post with bawu on sister site. uploaded this mp3 to vk.com, copy direct link to mp3 with extension and add music to my post. it's really usefull =)
