Had several attempts now at creating a drum track to go with this melody...

This latest version seems to fit the best...

But I'm wondering if I can get away without a drum track at all.

    Thoughts? Better with or without?

I suppose it may depend on what you are going to do with the track....adding vocals? Video game score?....a....beat?

    What... is it? :dunno:

I'd opt for keeping them but maybe change some things... As this doesn't really sound like a beat I suggest you try replacing the hats with shakers for example, maybe get some tom-toms or bongos in there. You could lose the snare and replace it with a tambourine and stuff like that (more world percussion). You could also add a lead line to make it more interesting, using an instrument like a glockenspiel or celeste or music box to boost that dreamy feel. You can also avoid the delay and use some left right panning [automated] (or best with a set of the drums panned L & R for a more acoustic vibe).

One Reason has a point. What do you want it to be/use it for? I listened and it just pretty much seemed what I refer to in my files as a doodle sketch: something to be elaborated on when I figure out what to do with it. I do the same with snippets of lyrics.

I guess it's like 99.99% of all tracks that get posted here...

An attempt at trying to make something that sounds like a "proper" tune.

Glockenspiel sounds like a good idea.

I'd like to think it's a little better than .01 percent. *yes*

Track without drums sounds much better. Maybe if you add bass and change the groove.
