I think you are making a very rough generalization on today's producer/songwriters/musicians.

The biggest problem here is the million blind fallowers kids who are not musician never had live instrument or gig just computer piano roll heroes listening to this guy saying random overrated shit and absorbing everything. Even this guy is not musician can't hold guitar i don\t want to sound like some elitist but if overrated guy start to teach kids what is right wrong we are doomed, frank zappa was right why industrie dies because of new young hipp guys who have some labels and they set the stantard again at the end of the day it's my opinion!

Bernard was truly a bass hero, and change bass playing forever. He was the first to apply virtuoso style to a radio hit single.
Jaco could be the best, but his wankery (thou i love it!) never got nowhere near a radio single.

The modern term "Producer" has almost no relation to the producer in the traditional sense, one who oversaw the production of a record and unusually was under contract to the record company. As mentioned in an earlier post, the Producer might not have touched a fader or knob. Producer Phil Ek described his role as "the person who creatively guides or directs the process of making a record", like a director would a movie. The term nowadays I believe means to write, record, mix and possibly (perhaps foolishly) master their own songs or records of their work.

There are exponentially many more people now recording than in the not so long ago past. The price of entry is also much less expensive and therefore within the reach of the many. This, in my opinion has both its positives as well as its negatives. The positive is that the quality that is available with today's interfaces, even inexpensive ones combined with the computer paired with a hard drive and DAW can be extrapolated to an extremely expensive recording desk, multitrack recorder and of course the tape used as the recording media. The possible negative is that nowadays the majority are recording in solidarity and the system of the guild-like hand me down of knowledge is now mostly gleaned from magazines and websites. Today's technology is great...and also detrimental in that it can alienate many the musician who used to need be physically breathing the same air as others in order to record and as well create.

Not trying to be rude but on his stream he always plays on piano, age doesn't mean anything, the fact is he does know how to play

And the fact that he does it on the piano roll would mean he would have to know what is going on, he isn't just placing shit on he since he has been doing this for like what? Over a decade? Try watching his twitch streams when he creates a bit, no need to just judge for the fuck of it , and not to be really messed up, but I doubt your niece has created original pieces that people love lol

where he uses black keys as well since you need more scales being used just to prove BEFORE placing the notes on piano roll

 

How many virtuosos in piano who can't compose or produce 2 minutes of good music ?
Producing music with a piano, a synth, a mouse or even with the hair of the ass is the same for me, as long we can capture an emotion and transmit it to others.

He isn't a piano player, not even close, the videos reveal that. He really has no chops whatsoever, but that doesn't preclude his ability to compose, obviously.

 

Guys, don't you think it's time for you to post one of your best works to listen how you compose? Everyone can talk about other people's works indecently. I accept that this EDM maker guy has a big mouth (unrivaled or ignorant) but let's put him aside and watch your mastery of composition.

 

@AntagonistHero No one is expecting MR. White Keys to ' distribute tension ' a la Jacob Collier but the left hand doesn't always have to play the root.
Why try to defend someone that admits at the end of your video, he has 'no playing ability'.
