I know that there is still a problem on freezing tracks with sidechained fxs in Ableton, but also that there is a workaround making a group, you can see a lot of clips and tutorial about that.

...But now think if you have a multi part MIDI track (like Kontakt) and you have external MIDI tracks routed to all single different parts in Kontakt.

Group or not group, how the hell can you freeze the Kontakt track (and something tells me there's not a workaround)?

At the moment the only solution I found is to bounce each soloed MIDI track to an isolated audio track, but it's a kind of hassle.

And BTW, if you have a single MIDI track routed to another MIDI track, Ableton will be able to freeze it, but no sound is rendered.

I know that I can open many instances of Kontakt and embed each MIDI part, but there are situations where this is pretty difficult, think of a vocoder, where you are forced to sidechain the MIDI part or the Voice modulation.

 

working fine here, you are routing using external instruments rather than the actual midi tracks right?

 

No. Internal MIDI tracks routed to another MIDI track containing Kontakt.

As you can see the fist 5 tracks are routed to the last track (6) containing Kontakt, but at different ports (a Multi with 5 instruments).

 

Use external instruments rather than the midi track routings, they don't use any resources really they're basically just the midi tracks routing in an instrument so it can be treated like a separate instance of kontakt without loading kontakt allowing you to freeze and stuff. Google kontakt Ableton routing and you'll find a few tutorials, it's much better than using the tracks routing
