I heard the rumor that thanks to all the fans Cubase will become Open source.

 

Do they need new protection? Current scheme seems to be working pretty well for them as far as I can tell..

If you want it - buy it. Then with the money you have invested in it, you can see more worth in it and use it to try and make music which is what we are trying to do. Having X daw or X plugin does not matter at all, its all about a particular persons creativity - I E your mind and then want/skill to re create the sounds/ songs that you want, and thus become original hopefully.

Failing that - does the huge wealth on audioz that is already there and audio sexes knowledge not do it for you?

 

Can someone tell me what's so much better in Cubase 6.x - 7.x that Reaper does not have? I can asume it weighs few tons more for the same job.

 

Nothing. But some people just want what they don´t have or what´s out of reach. I´ve tried many DAW`s and don´t get it, why people are longing for Pro Tools or Cubase.
It seems to me, that their developers don´t keep up with the times like others do. I am not that specialist, but when i can see this, more sophisticated audio enthusiasts should
recognize that too.

Cubase: ugly and inflexible GUI, tons of unnecessary sounds, crashes too often, fucking copy protection, doesn´t load all VST`S (Hey! VST-Inventors!), expensive.
Actually Cubase has the most expensive copy protection with all their disadvantages for users (even for those being honest). No way that i will pay for that.
A cracked Cubase or DAW in general i won´t use. None of them is working properly.

Reaper: most flexible GUI of all DAW´s, no fucking sound library, stable as a rock, no copy protection at all, loads all my VST´s, very user friendly, cheap.
Reaper was the last DAW i´ve tried - and the first i´ve paid for.

 

As I posted before Cubase 7 and Nuendo 6 still do not have VCA group automation, please read up on this as I am tired of explaining how important this is to have inside your daw as it free's you from the control of the hardware fader interface companies control.
If you look at their forums people are still pissed as this was promissed for these versions.

Steinberg has posted VCA group Automation is planned for .X updates for both Cubase and Nuendo

These Apps are becoming less relevant as other Daw's have taking the audio world by storm as it should be. The days of only having 2 Daw's to choose from are over

And I've no doubt if it ever is broken, they have something else lined up to replace it with!

 

I´ve ended up with Cubase5 (bought) and still fancy Cubase4 as my favorite!

These days I guess (besides the fact we all need to consider a 64bit system soon)is mostly about small changes basically!

In general I think all should buy the sequenser they use as their basic Music - Production - Engine!

Back to your odd question:

Latest version of Cubase could prolly be cracked, prolly not ........ Who knows - and who cares?
