What a beautiful time. We can see the evolution of patter-based step sequencer into the time based linear daw. 3 years ago "auto mapping instrument to the mixer channel" was a mood killer for proud FL users. And ppl on IL forum was talking like "why do you need this? You need to manually root every instrument into the mixer channel and this is the beauty of FL studio". But now IL introduces this basic feature as a logical evolving and ppl like "OMG THIS IS THE FEATURE". Interesting indeed. Will IL remove "make unique" button and make proper "loop midi clip" instead of drawing patterns in playlist? That's a question.

Holy hell, finally they added the grouping in the playlist. Yes, I'm aware it was possible before too, but you couldn't hide stuff. Now, instead of scrolling down when you have thousand of automations, you can just hide them when you don't need them.
For the linking to the mixer, we all were expecting this. I will still route things manually though.

20 seems like it's going to be good stuff, right Fosterino?

In my opinion one of the most important things is PDC!!It is impossible to work in parallel without a good delay compensation

Actually can't agree on this one, linking channel tracks with playlist tracks is exactly what we don't need.
my biggest fear is that one day fl studio will lock the playlist lanes with the mixer and loose their advantage over other daws

Would be cool if "collapse/expand" will also be introduced in the mixer and so called "folder channel" will act as "Bus".

don't think that's automatable, so it would break the backward compatibility, they just try to reach the traditionally DAW users too

As far as i get, they unlocked the manual delay knob for the mixer channels and it works together with automatic pdc. So now you can set negative delay for, lets say, pre-shifted samples right in the mixer without thirdparty plugins and it wont screw up automatic pdc for the rest channels. Am i right?

  11. A happy coincidence, but more to the point, the western world has a negative connotation about the number thirteen due to the drama played out about 1986 years ago.

They'll give us best of both worlds. This traditional workflow will attract a huge amount of producers and obviously Image Line don't want to lose their existing users. I'll definitely give it a try.

I installed a fresh one (12.9.2 BETA 3 - windows version) inside a virtual machine and using R2R's latest patch (12.5.1.5) worked fine.

Do you guys have any hope that Image-line's developers make FLS perfect for the vocal production? Pro-tools, Logic, S1 and many more are track-based DAWs and had been designed for manipulating the recorded stuff but FL Studio had this weakness point from the beginning that working with the recorded material is pain in the backside.:dunno:

I don't think they'll make it a priority. I don't think many users are asking for FL to be that type of DAW. Even if they do, maybe a price hike?
In my case, if FL handled audio files (in all aspects) like Ableton on it's playlist... I prob wouldn't open Live.

Changes in FL Studio 12.9.2 beta 3

    • Audio Unit (AU) plugins – AU plugins are now supported on macOS. AU plugins will scan, along with VST plugins, using the Plugin Manager.
    • Graph Editor – The classic feature is back! Edit note velocity, pitch, pan etc, right from the Channel Rack.
    • General settings – ‘Hide plugin toolbars by default’ is now on by default.
    • Fruity Reeverb 2 – The same phase is now used for left and right signals for improved sound. Modulation depth and speed maximum has been increased.
    • Reset mixer tracks – Right-click option for selected Mixer tracks ‘Reset selected track(s) to default’.
    • Piano roll – The root note is more visible with keyboard ‘scale highlighting’ set.
    • Hide grouped tracks – New option ‘Playlist Menu > View > Hide collapsed grouped tracks’. When used a small arrow on the right-side of the Track header can be used to show or hide the group.
    • Playlist preview – ‘Playlist Menu > View > Mini playlist preview’ is selected by default.
    • Playlist Right-click header-menu – Right-click options to ‘Mute all clips’ and ‘Unmute all clips’, to make undo of consolidated tracks faster.
    • Fruity Convolver – Added a PDC control, just above the Editor window, to set an impulse’s latency so PDC is correctly applied. Related, there are two new Linear Phase EQ presets, ‘Linear phase EQ (Long compensated) and (Short compensated)’ that make use of this feature.
    • VFX Level Scaler – Scale Note Properties as received from the Piano roll. The graph shows input-output mapping for Note – Velocity, Release, Pitch (fine), Pan, Mod X and Mod Y values.
    • Audio recording – Multiple takes are grouped when recording.
    • Browser – The Drag-and-drop location of samples previews when dragging from the Browser to the Playlist.
    • In-App Purchases – When saving using projects with demo plugins or FL Studio upgrade features, its now possible to buy plugins & upgrades from within FL Studio.
    • Installation – Option to unlock with a downloaded regcode file in the ‘Help > About’ window.
    • Render dialog – New options to ‘Save loop’ and ‘Playlist markers’. Renamed ‘Save Acidized’ to ‘Save tempo information’. Renamed ‘Save slice markers’ to ‘Save note markers’.
    • Updated plugins (bug fixes) – BassDrum, Drumaxx, Drumpad, Effector, GMS, Hardcore, MiniSynth, Morphine, PoiZone, Sakura, Sawer and Toxic Biohazard.
    • User data changes – Projects and Backup folders are now saved to a ‘FL Studio’ subfolder in the system shared data folders. Win: ‘..\Documents\Image-Line\Data\FL Studio’ folder. macOS:. An ‘Old projects’ points to the legacy location. We recommend moving your projects to the new location.
    • ZGameEditor Visualizer – Increased responsiveness to ‘Linear’ peak effect. Color button on HTML tab to paste color into test. HTML text position and size can now be specified in decimals. Copy/paste layer to and from clipboard.
The beta is now available for download from the Looptalk forum. This new beta version expires March 22nd.
