Hi guys. Like in title. I'm thinking to upgrade my OS to new version, so in this case I want ask you if there is more problems with VSTi beside Sylenth ?

 

Hiya, have you actually tried win 8 yet?

I have and i cant find any thing in it to make me want to move from a nicely set up, working well win 7 to a gui nightmare of win 8.

 

Nope I didn't yet. I know W7 is nice but is a chance upgrade to W8 for a very good price, so I thought I'll give a try.

 

dont just upgrade, start from scratch wih a clean format/install

If you want to try it, i think the 90 day enterprise trial is still available for download from microsoft.

You can even run it from within virtualbox, then you don't overwrite your win7.

 

I read someone did a audiotest performance when they load many vst on say 40 audio track and compare win 8 against win 7 on the same machine.
When loaded vst win 7 could load something like 180 vst before audio start to make glitchy noices in win 8 he could only load something like 150 the result was the same with vsti he used kontakt there win 7 also had better performance well on all test win 7 could load more vst/vsti but the tester said he never need so many plugins in a project and win 8 in other areas was better as loading of apps and boot was faster.

But he said he will stay on win 7

 

I don't really understand why people keep thinking about updateing to windows 8.
Windows 8 was designed for portable tablets. In other words it is so that Microsoft could make their version of a i-pad.

They made Windows 8 and released the windows version of a i-pad, windows surface. never used it so it might be good, it might not.
Ether way I don't see any reason to install Windows 8 on a desktop.

Unless you use a touch screen of have some strange desire to have a tablet opperating system on a desktop your wasting your money in buying it.
I'd like to point out even windows 98 second edition supports touch screens. So its not a hole new system, just new user interface mostly.



I might be overlooking something but as far as i can tell windows 8 is for a windows i-pad

There's the rumor that Win8 has a significant performance boost over Win7 concerning it's DAW capabilities, that would be the only valid reason for me to update.

 

i got an upgrade from an illegal win 7 to legal win 8 (need to have updates) from "https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/" for 16.99 USD!

any way its much faster for audio then win 7 i have all my daws running very nicely (Live, Studio One FLstudio, Sonar x2, Reaper ETc.) and vst plugins also including sylenth1

its the interface thats takes getting used to but even with out a touch screen its much faster with hot-keys try it its very intuitive and fast the only probles i had where with my amd GPU drivers crappy

 

For me the the interesing question is: do all the cracks work?

 

yes all you need from the site is the model number of the win 7 computer from august 2012 to february 2013 (Checking Online Will get you a model number )then you get it for 14.99 usd 16.99 usd with tax.

win 8 i have found no cracks yet but their will be

 

Do they send you a CD/DVD disk?

 

for an extra 14.99 they offer the disc to be mailed to you or offer you an iso image for a dvd or a flash drive in other words a digital download all you really need is the serial number thats what your paying for the serial comes in an email

I meant the cracks for the audio warez, not for Win8...back in the day I remember that a lot of older cracks for games (Securom etc.) did not work on a Win7 system... *no*

I'll change when and if some software comes out that needs higher OS than Win 7.

I'm willing to bet Windows 9 will have the option of the Windows 7 and Windows 8 GUI's.

Unless I hear some really positive info about Win 8 that turns it into a 'must have' , I'm staying with

Windows 7.

My 2 cents :D

 

Win 8 is more streamlined than win7 if you turn off all the fancy metro graphics and cloud crap.

It also processes better for 64 bit, it is a better system than win 7 once you have made the tweaks.

Just some drivers might be an issue and the odd plugin might be a problem, but all in all, a tweaked win8 is better if you have a multicore 64bit system.
