How to set Kick Length?

    Hey guys
    I was trying to make a kick using sonic academy's kick 2 and this question came to my mind.
    how long should the kick be in ms?
    Does it depend on the tempo of the song , or the bassline ?

    I had questions like these when I first started out. set your kick to taste. Listen to tracks in the same style and get the feel of how tight or loose the kick is. I usually set between 400 and 600 ms, but I do house music at around 120 bpm.

    There are no rules, but tempo, song key and kick elemental layers all can play a part in your preference... If you have a short kick some prefer longer bass/sub parts and visa versa
