I can't agree. IMO he has forget Plugin Alliance Black Box Analog Design HG-2. Your opinions?

 

You are right he has forget a lot of good plugins imho, like klanghelm sdrr...

 

I like Saturn, always have, and also Satin. I have not yet had the pleasure of using Black Box Design HG-2 but will give it a hear soon. I always seem to glean new insights from threads like this. Thanks, thantrax.

 

Satin is in my wish-list. Planned for next Black Friday 'cause is a little bit expensive.
Joshia casper has forget ToneBooster Ferox and ReelBus too, low priceed but really interesting stuff.

Sometimes people surprise me regarding their choice.

 

All great plugins. You have to keep in mind that this is a PluginBoutique video so they'll hardly cover plugs that they don't sell. Like others here I love the HG-2. Audified U78 as well. Klanghelm stuff is awesome too... So many good plugins out there.

These are my favorites as well. And soundtoys radiator can be really nice on vocals.

Believe it or not, the new Pedal distortion in Live 10 sounds really good to me as well. Not just another "here's your obligatory distortion" stock DAW plugin.

Which reminds me... anyone still using that Cytomic pedal distortion? It looked like it had a lot of potential but I've heard zero about it since its release. Hard to believe Cytomic dropped a dud, so what gives?

It is really a PERSONAL subject.
Example ? Saturn sound totally "solid state" to me, any setting. Too harsh, not enough "soft clipping"/compression.

On the other side, ANYTHING from Softube or Soundtoys sound amazing, saturation wise.
They nailed their code.

As a metalhead/rockhead, listening to distortion/saturation for 25 years (at normal level ), i'm very sensible on this point.
And i have my taste. To me, saturation/distortion are like wine. There is no "one to rule them all".

Speaking about "features" is useless, if base sound don't please me.
Test them with drum loops, bass. And compare them.
A/B tests are really important with saturation/distortion.
