How to enable audio on the DisplayPort ?

    Hi all,

    Anyone know how to lift the software limitation that Apple imposes on the DisplayPort ?

    I plugged my new LG screen via the DisplayPort (v1.2),the problem is that I have no sound on the

    speakers' screen.

    After some research, it seems that Apple deliberately limit the audio on HDMI & DisplayPort on Mac Pro

    early 2009.

    I found a patch that removes this limit but for HDMI only.

    Any help would be welcome, thanks in advance !

    Mac Pro early 2009 flashed 5.1

    OSX High Sierra 10.13.3

    isnt apple the best thing ever next to maccaroni without cheese.
    if it was advertised as having a hdmi and or displayport, and if audio is part of the hdmi or displayport specification as im sure it is, then this is a serious design flaw and reason to return for refund. not for a 2009 machine of course, you should have complained a long time ago.
    why would they do it, anti piracy?

    I found this (patch to enable sound on DisplayPort and HDMI) to those who would be interested , it works , I finally have sound through DisplayPort and boot screen show now on my new monitor.
