With all the bugs in PT around the implementation of ReWire, does anyone have a suggestion for a widely-supported alternative for inter-app audio patching? I installed Rogue Amoeba's Loopback, and it works, but the session on which I really tested it out seems a bit unstable. Not sure wether Loopback itself is to blame, or just bad Core Audio support in some apps?

I'd love to keep using ReWire, but it keeps crashing PT on load, and every time a new app is installed that relies on it (Melodine, Soundminor, etc), it seems to install a version that's incompatible with my version of PT (v11.1.3). If anyone has a reliable way around this headache I'd love to hear about it, or any advice on alternatives. Thx.

 

Plogue Bidule.

You can route your audio to Bidule to process the FX.

You can send the audio back to PT if you want.

Thanks for the suggestion, but what I'm after is an alternative to ReWire - another means to share among applications. Bidule is a great tool. but it uses reWire to connect to PT. The version I have does anyway.

 

Maybe load Bidule as a VST plugin instead of a standalone ReWire device?

can't believe that shit is still alive. should've died many years ago.

 

Actually I managed to get things going by using the loopback function in the management app for the Saffire interface. That works in my main system anyway, but I'd still really like to be able to manage inter-app audio independent of the interface, as I do a lot of audio design work on my MacBook Pro.
