It doesn't really matter what level you deliver as long as it doesn't clip and you have not put the track through a limiter.

Post production engineers are not so thick as to not turn your track down if they need to, it however considered a nice thing to do as they generally will attempt to give themselves a little headroom as many processors might cause peaks that are higher than the ones that came in to be put out.

If you mix and deliver at a bit depth of 24 you have a useful 126 dB of useful headroom under zero. The file will processed and down sampled to 16 bits so there is about 80 dB of useful headroom under zero. You could deliver a file with peaks at -24 and loose nothing in the process, as long you record and mix them properly. Though this isn't the place for such talks, it's not an overly technical concept.

    TLDR

Don't clip or limit, everything else will get worked out.

I know what you mean by your 3 sketches(and thank you),to keep the level -6db below 0.I use Cubase. What is 8db referring to?

Correct: no maximizer, infiltrator, sausagenator, or any type of processor that claims to make your music better by giving you 'radio ready' or 'release cd levels' at the push of a button.

You can use compression as you would like for artistic effect, that's on you. You will get your best results though by leaving your track as close as you can get it to finished to your ears - minus the loudness part and minus a bit of saturation. As far as analyzers go - we might have different views on that, but even if you need to use a graphical display try to use your ears as much as you can.

Ok, here's my submission. Hope you'll enjoy it.

It's called "Red teddy fox Down from heaven"

    Let's say it's a jazz influenced gliding prog-pop-rock thing.
    Also : duduk.

For those unable to play, this is the direct download link :

    Hey guys,

I think someone should paste the deadline, rules and general info about this project in the OP, so people don't have to browse through many pages to find out what they need to do to participate.

Also, for our french members (and to be even more specific, for our french PARENTS members), a short bonus-track.
This is a pure syncopated jazzy version of the french cartoon for children "l'Âne TroTro", with a quick and dirty sax solo.
All I know is my son loves it :)
