VFX Host Software uses WINE to offer built in support for VST plug-ins originally intended for use on the
Windows operating system. That means you can now load and play nearly every Windows VST plug-in
directly in Mac OS X and route the audio signals to your favorite sequencer (e.g. via Soundflower).
You don't need the V-Machine hardware to play your Windows VST plug-ins on your Mac.

    Requirements

    • Intel
    • Mac OS X 10.5 or later
    • X11 installed

^me too, why would we need vst?! there is absolutely no need, almost all plugins come as hybrid versions, and maybe some don't get cracked for mac/win, but who cares, you can buy them to compensate for all the 1000's of gigs you have downloaded for free :P
you won't hear me complain.. no need for vst!

VFX Host Software is nothing new! *no*
But IF this really works it's indeed a good idea.
I haven't tried it yet so i can't tell more.
What i know is that Wine + Crossover stuff fills the cache with sometimes heavy MB!
You can anyway clean (after use) with a special cache cleaner software.

I wonder why this software is so unknown....stll.

There is nothing that would stop them from posting "mac please?" on every thread. I mean ffs, I'm surprised there aren't "mac Please? comment on mac only software... Like people think the poster has anything to do with cracking/patching/releasing the software.

But yeah bridge programs kinda suck. I don't know about WIN to OSX but just bridging VST's to RTAS is freaking retarded. Also I'd assume there are latency/memory issues with this type of thing.

My opinion (posted also on AudioZ):

It's advised to report multiple spammers, that means someone who repeats the comment with malicious intentions! Should be stupid to report a member/user having posted only 1 (also stupid) comment. But when people insult or offend report straight away. So that they get a first warning.

It's not meant to be like applying police methods but to stop people abusing of AudioZ for their egoistic + paranoid excursions!

AND: SAiNT for sure bans for real after having warned!

I know this is 'nothing new' and 'old as fook' -- just offered up the option for those out there that can't seem to
    wait for the scene
, or the occasional PC-Mac switcher that misses that 'one' particular PC only PlugIn

Best to all -- I've not tried it myself (I've got more sounds and plugIns than I could ever effectively use)
In fact, I'm on a mission to slim down my 'arsenal' to those that are largely indispensable, and trim out those
that lay dormant. (Nice to have them 'just in case' -- but in my experience, the more 'options' you have to deal
with, the more the project workflow suffers. Not always -- but overall)

i'm really curious, what vst are we really missing on mac?
maybe other mac users can name a few. also i would never work with these kinda applications because of the various technical difficulties this kinda software can introduce. it's more 'cons' than 'pro's' imo.

also these fagget newbie mac user are just a small group of idiots. those are the people who bought their mac for it's design and trend-factor, you see immediately. they never thought about it and now they ask "mac please", completely neglecting doing some research yourself and finding an alternative. they think it's part of 'apple care' *yes*

but i don't understand how shit like that could be a topic for discussion every time again, that falls into the same area.
    "time waisting"
i mean i can't see anyway it really HURTS you? and how many time have i seen at audioz that it's the other way around...

What would happen if we all just STOP talking about this bullshit and IGNORE those trolls? my 2cents...

c'mon man, smoke some, don't let that shit get to you head

p.s. written by mac user :wow:

what vst are we really missing on mac?

For some the same thing they were missing on the PC ....... common sense and the time and intelligence to learn read and study on how to use what they have and not to expect the Super All In One Plugin to do it for them. :wow:

Like i said some not all, as i know a lot of cool people on the Mac.

Why's that? I use VST all the time. They work better on live processing than AU's in my Opinion. I'm on a Mac too, of course

Well, i just found VFX yesterday looking for a winvst wrapper for Mac. So today i've downloaded
VFX + V-Machine factory library and i must say that i'm very happy to have done that, because it
works like a charm with the freeware plugins in the library! ... Now it's time to check the
thing with "more serious" plugins. Anyway i'm really happy having found that as i've said.

BTW i was going to post about it, but a simple search in the forum showed that someone else had
been post it already ... And still another thing: sometimes i think we could be more positive and/or
humble, after all nobody knows when we're going to need that special sound (or sound-effect) that's
only in a freeware win-only plugin (which BTW sometimes are really, really much better than some
    comercial ones).

So, despite i knew it already, much thanks Pyrus Malus for bring this into light for all Mac users.
(even if this could or could not stop the famous "Mac please?" request. Who cares!?)
And Pyrus ... there's no need to justify with others things that arise from the heart.

Brace yourselves, Win fanboys will come asking for a mac->win VST/AU wrapper.

The very same stuff was called FST under Linux (it was useful there since the routing app (ie soundflower) is more reliable, and there's NO VST support on this platform). It exists since like 5 years, maybe more.
You have to use Soundflowers, which is unreliable. And it use Wine which is unreliable as well.
Added up to plugins (sometimes) unreliable and unpredictable...
It'll work with few trivial plugins... But I wouldn't trust it outside of testing/PoC purpose.

I don't think it'll stop the "How come this plugin isn't available on Mac yet?". :(
