    3 new tools for me:
    • Sonible SmartEQ+
    • SKnote Disto-S
    • UAD Fender Tweed
SmartEQ+ is now my default audio-coloration tool. Along with Acon Equalize for transparent sound mangling, I need no other EQs unless I use Acustica Audio Amerhyst3 or Pink.
I had bought Disto some time ago but never quite liked it much. However, this newest version is a whole other league, less cluttered GUI and better sounding.
UAD gave away a newest-gen Marshall Plexi Classic amp. I got so impressed with their real amp-like behavior that I bought the Tweed. I'm about to buy the Engl Savage 120. I had previously bought two other amp emulations but I wasn't really convinced. Now I'm thinking about selling my Marshall MA100 head and cabinet.

I won't name any particular plugs, because I don't know what i WILL be doing with new plugs. It has been shown, each year is as unpredictable as the last in terms of plugs & methods, but you can see some trends. Here are my changes for the last 2 years:

    2016
    • Using plogue Alterego to make BVs
    • SImple Crossfade JSFX
    • MIDI Sustain
    • HS Piano
    • 2 > 3,4,5 upmixers,
    • Working in 15.1 surround
    • Working with ambisonics tools in surround mix
    • AuS G6
    • lp-64 to EQ
    • vocoding?

    2017
    • Very cheap upscaling
    • Ambi rotation,
    • O3A flare for monitoring
    • 5.1 Reverb abuse for 3D surround
    • 9.1 fh remix, general 3D remixes 91h, 71h 111h/bf, 131fc/h
    • Channel parenting instead of reastream to shift channels for surround mapping (redu CPU)
    • Mcfx convolution for HRTF (kemar height)
    • Actually (mostly) native ambi mixes
    • New ambi tools (pan, rotation)
    • 151 > 1oa(+R), > 3oa modolaur
    • Optimized 7.1 pan

Notice half of them aren't plugs. They're methods or workflow changes. I won't add new tools to my workflow until they have PROVEN themselves on (a few) projects.

I'm not quick to jump on new plugs, because i have hundreds of plugs already, most of which I don't use often, but I keep them because I have legacy projects which I want to preserve. Also, because I probably have that functionality already.

    FOR EXAMPLE:

Cableguys volumeshaper probably accomplishes the same intent.

Hundreds of compressors exist out there.

http://www.quikquak.com/Prod_MashTactic.html This has been out for 10? years. While it's not advertised as a transient tool, it works very well as one, and it's multiband & multipan.

definitely i can't live without this delay in my keys and pads. I like a lot, you can to combine a "type shimmer" reverb and other effects(2 fx) with the delays and get blowmind results, total and intuitive controls and the randomizer function are a winner.

How about a real time Audio Latency Interface of ZERO from 250 miles up with no AUDIO DELAY

Must be using the NASA Interface called ThroughYOURANUS USB v10

People are gullible beyond belief and remember NASA is part of the " Bread and Circuses"

Anyone who works with Audio is shaking their heads after watching this staged act.

been really enjoying the transient shaper in neutron 2. Literally all of the new devices in Live 10 are really good as well. I probably won't bother much with Wavetable since I have better WT synths, but Drum Bus, Pedal, and Echo are all REALLY usable

500 mile round trip? At ~the speed of light (& radio waves), that's less than 3ms, (less time than it takes sound to travel from your amp's speaker to your ear, unless you're literally kneeling in front of the cab) :)

LOL I meant it as a joke since if you watch that video you will notice many Problems

All singers and instruments are going through the Console. Singer has in ear Monitors
Space ISS would have to be on a 1 ms transmission Hardware which gets the signal from the Mic used by Hadfield and transmits it down to the Console which feeds to the Singer from the Bare Naked Ladies so he can receive Hadfiels signal in real time to his in ear monitors LOL.

They are really mocking our intelligence here and anyone who works with audio and Midi knows fully well the Latency issues of REAL TIME effects and Transmission of Midi and Audio Data.

Look for my channel on Youtube as I post small videos from time to time busting this NASA crap.

The ISS is now finished as Trump has pulled the Plug on the "Acrobatics" ISS show.
He now directed NASA to the Moon, good luck they "Destroyed the Technology that got them to the Moon" as said by the Nasa Astronaut lol. I can get a Schematic for anything in the last 60 years for audio hardware but NASA has lost their Moon Trip Technology hahahaha.

A goddamn chord track in reaper would be fine for 2018.
Or the ability to visualize your progression and remap midi notes on 100+ tracks if you decide to change bar 48 from an Am to a C7 so that you only have to make fine voice leading adjustments after that (that second part is almost quickly done by merging all notes in midi window but it's a mess).

Or just save for Cubase pro. But it's not only about money. You've got to save many days on training to be as efficient as your primary DAW.
    And that I don't have.

Very insightful. As mentioned, all electromagnetic radiation moves at the speed of light.
