I don't know what it is about Serum. I just don't really find it inspiring. Really wish I could get into the whole wavetable synthesis creation craze, but everything always seems to come out like growly transformer farts... Duda is a creative genius when it comes to vsti creation however.

Its a deep instrument and no doubt Steve is the man, but I get what you mean. When Im looking for a sound, I go immediately by feel... not so much if it sounds right, but does it FEEL right? Virus, Zebra, PG8X, UltraAnalog, Chromaphone... these are most used synths because the sounds just feels right when Im putting a track together. I struggle to get Serum to do the same and not for lack of trying. I promised myself one day I'll take time to get more acquainted and put a soundset together with it, but for right now its been collecting virtual dust on my drive.

Serum is more of a sounddesigners synth

Many parameters which are automatically mapped in other synths are not mapped in serum, you can still do it, but you have to know what you are doing

With that being said, Serum is the easiest synth to learn synthesis. All parameters and functions are easy to understand and connect. And once you get the basiscs you can program any other synth. Functionality wise it does not differ much from any old synth. Also, it costs 10 bucks a month, which most people can afford.

Additionally, the sound is quite dry, clean oscillators means they sound absolutly digital. Sylenth1 has some coloring, or some invisible eq, to make it appear analogue, for example. Many synths have their own colored sound, which is great in some cases, but if you dont want that, serum is king

Hi! The Serum is able to remember the global MidiLearn function? Or you should be set for each preset at?

@segglyuk Initialize Serum, map all your controls and in Menu > Save MIDI Map with the name "default". It will retain the mapping when you switch presets.

What I like though is that Serum can still pull up some flawless analog-ish big patchs. Thanks to the WT system, I can do anything with it. From hard digital basses to organic plucks, analog pads/polysynth and dirty subs... It's really polyvalent. And that portamento... It is the mot effective, working one I ever tried in a virtual synth. But this GUI update? Meh, big meh. Almost one year without updates for this? I'd rather have true multithreading, better CPU usage, more macros options, new filters...

Map your controls to the Init (new) preset and save it with the name default.
So your file will look like this: C:\Users\username\Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\System\MIDI CC Maps\default.mmp
The next time you open Serum it will automatically load the default.mmp
This won't work on the demo version.

Everything's good unless it's not 23:23. That would freak me out. :hahaha:

    I also notice "242" often...

@Baxter "Noice" is "Nice" in Aussie English. My wife is Aussie so I know.

Question: Is Steve Duda affiliated in any way with reFX, the developers of Nexus and Vanguard? I'm asking this because Duda's "software house" is called xfer, which happens to be reFX written backwards.

No. I can't remember exactly where I heard him talk about the name, but it may have been the video he did with Pluginguru. I do remember him being asked this specific question, though, and there is no connection between the two companies. Steve had the domain name and had used it for something else and just went with it, I think. Or something like that.

Thanks mate. That was bugging my mind for a while now. One of those odd coincidences. Like Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, or Neil A. If you read Neil A backwards you get... That meme from that greek guy.

Man that thing is tiny. But cant live without it,...... Save samples with project. Every sampler (fxp GEIST are you listening????:winker:) should have this, well Kontakt LIBS would be kinda ,....well you know.
Sorry for being offtopic here. But want this so badly!

    Edit... im a dumbass:

    Hi,
any thoughts on getting a resizable GUI for Nerve? Barely usable on a hi resolution monitor unfortunately.
    Thanks

    Yes, it's in the works
