:woot: A compressor compresses the dynamics, an expander expands the dynamics, what is a de-compressor and a de-expander???

As far as I’m concerned it’s a perfect compliment to the visuals. Don’t change a thing.

That's the trouble, advice is simple & everything sounds great (same deal with product demos). Reality is a different beast.

Maybe zynaptiq suite (unveil and unfilter) can help a bit... I use it to revive bad zoom recordings

so much possible but I would do a new arrangement.
if not, then there are so many sound restoration stuff avail ( would need a lot too for this one)
but you are talking years of study and practice if its foreign to you .
easiest and best way is to do new arrangement.

    IF you want to "play"
use analog mastering tube harmonic enhancers, in order to start off by adding in information below 100hz and above 6khz

after that you can de noise de filter de ring de scratch and de swirl

and supplement with extra tracks to fatten back up , re-record a new vocal that mimicks then re-mix.

    juts some ideas for you.

the restoration plugs from these guys

Starting from scratch is easier, true. I want to figure out what could be done with degraded tracks. Learning the process itself, people's tips & tricks, is what I'm after here.
Analog mastering? So much for DAWs/VSTs. And what sort of are tube harmonics? Crossover distortion of PP circuits? Asymmetrical output of SE circuits, because transfer curve? Do we want to throw in some transformer coupling, to exploit magnetic hysteresis to our advantage?

I am sorry my friend if i was not very clear about that
use this exact plugin (to start off getting used to what type device i am referring to here)
next (refresh the thread if you need)_ you can see the other images of some other plugins that can get you started off on a wonderful restoration journey.

If I wanted to enhance a damaged track, beside the mixing technique, I would rerecord and reprogram the main instruments to layer with the original. For start, try using a drums trigger.

@metaller just reminds me of this one cool plugin which I've learnt from the other thread here. @No Avenger was there too. Must credits to @santillana for sharing about this plugin. I haven't try it but in summary, it can split single full audio track into stems. Maybe this method just another option to enhance and re-master.

    tadaa..

The simple answer for me in most cases like this is Zynaptiq Unfilter. Great job whoever posted that above. I just tried it w a rip though and it doesn't work as well as it sometimes does straight out of the box on it's own.

You'd definitely want to "stereoize" this source as it's mono. Izotope Ozones Imager works great. You can fan the mix out using the different freq bands. That'll have an immediate positive effect.

Thanks everyone. @metaller, have tried something similar on other tracks - tempo-mapped & added volume/saturation/eq envelopes. Don't know what to use for a drum trigger (vst) other than pre-filter -> https://www.thepiz.org/plugins/?p=AudioToCC, anything better?
