"last station"??! "nothing revolutionary, pioneering or innovative can be introduced"??! "Is there anything in the music world that hasn't been explored yet?" lol. what are you talking about.

c'mon now, such an extremely alienated questioning for someone who cant even make a twinkle little star grade melody.
sorry to be the one but your focus and priorities are really screwed up buddy.

@Blorg @Backtired If it does sounds good, I think the machine must have been programmed by the same person who wrote Roxette's How Do You Do. imho. Maybe that hasn't been explored much yet @foster911, AI in music. imho.

Never heard of, Googled, landed on this vid.
    Don't get it, but the gear (Blonde Bandmaster & cab & Leslie & 2 flavors of metal-switch Marshes) = 90s cool :)

I'd say music world lacks a way of music transcriptions,
notes have been invented roughly 1000 years ago, and since then so much has changed...

as a drummer I hate to use notes, as it makes no sense to bother with note lengths and rules when writing percussive instruments, polyrythms are literally unreadable,
as a seaboard player, notes are lacking all the potential for tone alterations and modulations, which are nowadays main essence of electronic music creation
as a sound engineer and designer, notes are a very inefficient way to write music for composing as the tempo/beat becomes obsolete while essential when played by orchestra, big musician pools and sound sources playing different things simultaneously cannot be efficiently written in notes either

some thoughts i would like to share about music, new things & artificial intelligence...

I love new technology & everything that pushes forward music & makes our life better.

That being said i don't feel that A.I can replace real musicians,
it can be "intelligent" but always "artificial",it is it's nature like ours is "wisdom" that comes from insight & inspiration, something that A.I can not have.

A.I can "execute" music but can not "perform" it.

One of my favorite scores is this :
listen to the amazing Violin solo performed by Hilary Hahn, nothing "artificial" here only soul  :

I don't think an AI will be able to compose or perform in the near future all on its own, like highly talented artists can do. But it will be able to support and replace artists at basic level.
If you have a guitar and a bass track, an AI will soon be able to create a suitable rhythm guided by the style of for instance Cozy Powell and combine it with the dynamics of Phil Collins. Based on a general analysis of rhythms, individual musicans and your musical requirements.
This will be possible for almost every style of music and every instrument and it will be the (next) big thing, whether we like it or not.

hi @No Avenger ,interesting & nice thoughts ,
thank you for joining in
i would like you to also consider this  : that rhythm & percussion is more than a backing track,(i understand what you wrote above  ) :

FULL 3D music which uses a bottom layer. And no, i'm not talking about using reverb to fake "depth" in stereo. That's not an added spatial dimension. That's in the transient domain. That's not even 2D. That's 1D.

    let me explain.

0D: we've had mono music for a century.
1D: we've had stereo music for over half a century.
2D: we've had surround music for half a century.

2.5D: we've had surround music with height for 15 years (2+2+2, atmos, DTS:X, etc)

2.7D: there's a few 22.2 demo pieces. 22.2 has a bottom layer which only covers 90* of the front arc, for 10 years.

3D: there's ambisonic music compositions but i'm guessing not all use the bottom direction well or much.

we need FULL 3D music which uses a bottom layers/directions well.

That's a fiercely harsh response to a valid question. Are you aware of the term ad hominem attack? It is an invalid aspect of debating. You attack the person not the subject. There is no correlation between making twinkle little star grade melodies and his proposition.

Not sure. Surround sound (movies) was around for ages (Disney's big 40s flop, Fantasia, was surround), most music is still just stereo.

hi, i wouldn't say its harsh. its totally legit as answer. he states that "we're at the last station and nothing revolutionary, pioneering or innovative can be introduced", "proposition"?

you would not hear such an ostentatious statement even from a john williams or a beethoven. and then to even conceive from whom this kind of nonsense comes.. its not any attack to point out the obvious musical level, he hardly can play two notes that dont clash but he has the urge and feels he has the perspective to question this "era"?

its not about not been able to ask questions or post reflections or contemplations, its not that one must be a genius to think outside the box, not at all.

what is so tiring is this lack of humility man, its so darn tiring to have to hear mediocrity talking so darn loud all the time.

    that's all

I live near an area where a massive limestone mountain contains hundreds of caves. When told over 200 caves have been discovered, a favourite question to guides is "and how many haven't been discovered?" This a bit like trying to prophesies what the future of music holds. We don't know. But we can observe past trends and as I have stated previously, innovation is coming at a much slower rate that at any time in recent Western musical history. I am now into my seventh decade of living with popular music and I have listened to Eno's art installation "77million paintings" Which in my opinion could not contain less music without becoming silence. I have likewise heard the opposite, random atonal noise masquerading as some perverted form of music. It's not music, it's noise. You might be of the view that music will surprise us with something so unexpected that we will be shocked to the core, but while we obsess about 808's and TB 303's it doesn't inspire me to expect bold new adventures in sound. Technology has driven much of the change since the middle of last century, yet since the advent of sampling, what has truly added never before witnessed pathways to novel concepts of music making? It's one thing to claim with certainty that the future will be filled with ideas beyond our wildest dreams, but let us view the example set by NASA in 1969 when several trips to the moon promised to open a gateway to the stars. Yet we seem more earthbound than ever. To summarise, I want my Jetsons flying car. now!
