I produce electronic music, love Moritz von Oswald / rhythm & Sound stuff, Pete rock /Kev brown boom bap type stuff. Used to have a studio, nice Adam monitors, but actually have to do it just ITB on my MacBook Pro with headphones unfortunately (noobie to cans).

Am on low budget here, used the Superlux 668 b (akg 271 clone) for some months, and want to upgrade my setup.

Actually I bought a Dt 880 edition 250 Ohm for 120 euros used (hopefully I can use it with the MacBook without amp as I use to mix on low volume).

I wait for shipping, and hope it’s the right choice.
Read a lot about other cans as well , sennheiser hd 25, hd 600, ath r70x, akg k7xx.
Someone got first hand info on the dt 880 specially for electronic music?
    How does it translate?

    Any help appreciated!

I need to get them. They should work fine however. Do you have an interface? I am currently using DT-990 Pro 250 Ohm headphones plus I also have two pair of DT-770 Pro 250 Ohm headphones. The major differences are closed-back (770 Pro), semi-open-back (880 Pro), and open back (990 Pro). The 770's are good for recording, the 880's are good for mixing, and the 990's are good for mastering.

Great headphones very neutral, some people miss bass (often a complain with really neutral headphones).
In my opinnion the 880 are the best bang for the buck semi open headphones on the market.
Got the 250 Ohm edition and they are useable with really high volumes (75-100%) with my phone/tablet and other consumer grade products. So you should be able to use them with a MacBook.

You ll have a lot of fun with them for sure!

Ohh and happy new year !!!!!

think i have those as well, for over 10 years, maybe 15 years even, they just refuse to break down, even used them for dj-ing and live gigs. i think they're demonic or something, this just isnt natural, they refuse to break down, i dont get it...

Do you guys use amplifiers /DAC‘s?
Do you use crossfeed function in the daw when mixing ( in case u have to mix on cans, not monitors)

Best deal is to buy just a monitor controller with a headphones output (for studio) or just some simple cans amp but usually there's always some headphones out within most of the audio interfaces so shouldn't be a problem if you use one with you'r macbook.
HD600 are great cans which translates very well, mixing bass on them might be quite tricky as it's very light on lower octaves so gotta be careful but it's very good compliment to the speakers. Don't need to upgrade from these anymore. Well, maybe expect to HD800. ;) Bare in mind these are open so it's impossible to work other then in a some quiet place, so it's rather for studio use. Superlux sucks, had one of them and these are really just for listening music, not more then that.

for mixing? maybe look into the AKG k702 (NON ANNIVERSARY EDITION) instead.

It was a VS between the dt 880 & the akg 701/702 , I heard the akg got less bass then the dt & seems to be the better option for more natural music styles, so i choosed the dt. But interesting headphone for sure.

Oh, i thought the hd 600 got more bass than the dt 880, interesting.
Also Heard, the hd 600 is one of the best mixing cans, more neutral than the hd 650.
The hd 800 is expensive as hell, and I guess it sounds way to good to mix on it
: ) but would like to test him one day

Heard of that sonarworks, I didn’t try yet, but interested. On the sistersite there’s Version 3 for mac, but in the comments they say not compatible with sierra. I need to try it nonetheless!
Never heard of Morphit , gonna check.
And what do you meen with sound result differences. what do these Programms do other than a eq to perfect your cans? Gotta check for more info soon, thx for the heads up

I'm using DT 880 pro for several years now... USed them from electronic music to classical music and Jazz
    No problem even for mastering.
    Very good All rounder.
You've made the right choice

Only one negative point: The chord is not inter-changeable.

Thx a lot, that’s what i wanted to hear u made my day!!!
About the chord, yeah I knew that, but it’s ok with me. Don’t have to travel with the setup, so I guess it ll endure longtime.
    Have a nice New Year’s Eve ☘️
