    Hi Friends,

What's the low down on using 32bit plugs in my 64 bit host?

I've got some 32bit VSTs that I would like to use cause I cant get the 64 bit version of Sonnox Oxford

Is there any compromise in quality by using a 32bit VST over a 64 but VST

Which is better Jbridge or Blue Cats Patchwork?

    Cheers

JBridge seems to have less overhead. Good for just getting plugins loaded.
You could also run into functionality issues with both in my experience.

The main issue is that your system, has to give over resources to use any kind of bridging system.
Especially in a MS Windows environment.

Well coded 64 bit native is the way to go. You will find replacements both retail & free.

Have not reinstalled Waves after recent fresh Windows install. Not missing it so far.

    Hi Spyfx
Thanks! but alas I'm on a PC
do you think there's any difference in quality using a 32bit plugin?

hey Ted,at the moment i'm not using any 32bit plugins,i used the soundradix 32lives with the old version of sylenth1
    sylenth1 is now 64bit,so it works in ableton,reason 10,logic pro x & bitwig that i have.
To my experience the soundradix(was clear enough/transparent),i know that i'm not really helping you here but i gave it a try

Hopefully. I find very little use for most of their offerings. Current development from others has caught up to, if not exceeded
what Waves offers. Look at the Plugin Alliance site for some of the top plugins.

    No.

the architecture bitdepth is disparate from DSP bitdepth. It won't raise or lower the quality.

If you're concerned, run bitter VST to measure your VST bitdepth.

Thanks Heaps, I thought as much re waves. I immediately get rid of most of the signature crap especially.
Seems they are coming fast with nice looking stuff, but it starts to make me wonder how professional.
When things start looking like toys I get a bit wary.
Thanks for the Plugin Alliance tip i've just got into some of their stuff recently and I'm impressed.
Are there any other devs you'd recommend that stand out, and what devs do you think are worth avoiding?
I wonder about a few devs these days like Overloud and IK multimendia for example, who have been working hard at making very nice GUI's to help sway our opinions and our credit cards....
I've got a lot of plugins but now I need to try and get a good set of essential tools that I'm happy with rather than messing about with new offerings all the time!

which would have less issues/better performance, bridging 32bit vst to a 64bit os or bridging 64bit vst to a 32bit os (win7) ?

Acustica Aqua Series Red & Tan which are free.
    Black Rooster
    DMG Audio
    Overloud Gem Series
    IK Multimedia T-Racks 5
    Line 6 Helix
    McDSP
    Softube Pultec & Summit
    Solid State Logic
    Sonalksis
    Stillwell Audio/Schwa

Still testing others. Both retail & free.
