    Hi all,
I've seen surprisingly little discussion on here regarding what was the fate of one of the biggest maverick teams in audio warez. I've searched the forums for something - anything - that would suggest what happened to them, but found only some people saying they are gone. I do not recall any official announcements saying they have disbanded. I don't recall any announcements at all. Where are people getting this information?

Have they really disappeared without saying a word? Does anyone here have any knowledge of this? That would really be too bad if true.

EDIT: Before this turns into a hate fest aimed at me for asking a simple question, I am not complaining about this year's releases. My question is simply stated above: does anyone have any information regarding the fate of AudioUTOPiA? I am genuinely curious, and rather bewildered at the lack of discussion.

I always wondered, why is AudioUTOPiA the only group that cracked/released Antares AutoTune 8 ?

Without a shadow of a doubt, they are legends. Some closure would be appreciated though! I guess we'll be left wondering each year if this is the year when AudioUtopia make their great comeback.

I know there are people on here who helped the guy out. He showed up on the forums in a now scrubbed thread asking about cracking ilok2, and got in touch with a couple people. Maybe someone with information will stumble upon this.

I have a feeling you would know. You mean they joined R2R?

Considering the iLok 2 releases R2R put out closely after AudioUTOPiA made the big breakthrough, and that AU disappeared at right about the same time... draw your own conclusions.

You folks do realize that the heat is brought upon these groups when they crack these heavy duty (so called un-crackable) warez. Many choose to leave the scene out of self preservation! Some of these company's don't take kindly to their non-crackable apps finally going on the chopping block.

I never asked myself (let alone the forum) what happened to XY team.. like ANY of those would be so stupid to leave a note w/ contact info ?! (especially when doing something that's not-so-encouraged by the law enforcement agencies) ..just in case we'd be unsatisfied w/ any of their services.. lol

But yeah, I was wondering why is always so much kiddos whining about "certain" group, and never about AU that gave in one month (quality-wise) a jaw-dropping shitload of hardcore stuff.. and nope, I don't see any resemblance with releases frm others (iLock2 fiasco considered ..speculation would be, they shared some tools..). It was a Veni Vidi Vici action though!
I can feel your pain... :(
Cool down my friend. It's just to pay the bills till the album hits the shelves..

What he said!!! AudioUTOPiA included an R2R tool for their Pro tools release, not rocket science to under stand that they know each other and share knowledge

Alright, well, thanks guys, that settles my curiosity a bit.

Wish AU had remained independent! I loved their installers haha.

To add some skepticism- After the initial Mid December (19th in my timezone) 2015 iLok 2 cracks by AudioUTOPIA, whereas nearly the entire iLok catalogue was cracked, AudioUTOPIA still popped in every now and then to hand over a release. At least a few of these releases came notably after R2R started releasing iLok 2 cracks, which was not far into 2016. Empirical Labs Arousor, for example, was released under the AudioUTOPIA name in late 2016. I believe it was October 25th, 2016. A few days later, AudioUTOPIA released Slate Digital updates, and Verbsuite Classics for the first time. Furthermore, McDSP's AE600 Active EQ was released by AudioUTOPIA on December 24th, 2016. This is the latest AudioUTOPIA release I can recall without seriously digging.

R2R has updated their iLok protected releases more than AudioUTOPIA has, so it's harder for me to name their initial iLok 2 releases, as I wouldn't keep an archive of plugins that have a working update, but I will give an example that spans 2016. As I said, R2R iLok 2 releases started early 2016. On February 8th, 2016, R2R released Celemony Melodyne. March 5th, 2016, they released an updated Melodyne. July 6th, 2016, they did it again. November 24th, 2016, they did it yet again. This date is of particular importance, because it shows that R2R was releasing iLok 2 cracks along the same time we last saw AudioUTOPIA releases, late 2016.

In fact, a lot of R2R releases follow the similar pattern of R2R performing the crack initially, then releasing updates. This argument is kind of complicated, due to being full of dates, but I think that I have demonstrated that the assumption AudioUTOPIA was absorbed into R2R, at least closely after cracking iLok 2, is not rational. We have an full year of history here demonstrating otherwise. Whether AudioUTOPIA was absorbed into R2R in early 2017, I don't know, but I see no reason to believe that.

R2R and AudioUTOPIA simply have different behaviors. R2R releases a product and updates it and updates it and updates it. Celemony and Flux releases are solid examples of this. AudioUTOPIA releases a product and has updated a couple, such as Slate Digital's library a year after the initial cracks. Furthermore, there really isn't a lot of crossover on the products the two groups have cracked.

Here is all the brand crossover I see between the groups. AudioUTOPIA released Zynaptiq Morph and Unmix Drums with that huge December 19, 2015 drop. R2R then released an updated version of Morph in February 2016, and since then, have been releasing Zynaptiq updates. This is the only product crossover I can see between the groups. The next closest is with Audified. AudioUTOPIA put out U73B Compressor v1.1.2 in that initial December 2015 release. R2R dropped U73B Compressor v2.0.1 mid June, 2017. Version 2 was supposedly a recode. It certainly has a new GUI. After Audified, the next closest thing to any crossover is with Lexicon products. R2R released Lexicon MPX. AudioUTOPIA released Lexicon LXP and PCM. Other than that, brand overlap in my archive, let alone product overlap, has gone unobserved.

Here is a breakdown of what the groups have released, as documented in my archive, memory, and AZ. I don't archive everything, but I have archived a lot. Still, don't take this as gospel. Take it as a pretty good idea of the two groups and their release behavior. Just please don't take it as me whining about updates. I am not. I am demonstrating different release choices and behaviors between the groups.

    ----AudioUTOPIA Brands Cracked----
    Antares (No updates)
    Audio Ease (No updates)
    Eiosis (AirEQ updated once)
Exponential Audio (A fix update or two)
    Kush Audio (No updates)
    Matthew Lane (No updates)
    McDSP (No updates)
    Relab (No updates)
Slate Digital (One update of the collection)
    Sly-Fi (No updates)
    Softube (No updates)
    Solid State Logic (No updates)
    Sound Radix (No updates)
    SoundToys (A fix update)

    ----R2R Brands Cracked----
    Celemony (Many updates)
    Eventide (Many updates)
    Flux (Multiple updates)
Metric Halo (A round of updates)
NuGen Audio (A round of updates)
    UVI (No updates)

What about those releases missing from the AudioUtopia catalogue?
They numbered all their releases, and some numbers are missing...

Btw my guess is that they will return with a similar drop at a certain point.

I think(ok - I hope) we'll see them as "Happy New Year"' releasers.
