From my point of view, there's some things going on behind the curtains we can only speculate about. A lot of theories with and without proofs.

From some time ago (when things started going really wild) my feelings about R2R are very mixed up. On one side - they have fantastic skills and have brought us 1000's of high quality releases. On the other side they started acting like no group before them.

Serious warnings towards public, more and more whining, demonstrative leaving the scene ("you won't see any more releases from us, never!"), then coming back with more warnings, practically blackmailing the public with infamous NFO messages and host file blocking .cmd files (NO other group did that, ever!)... Major cr*ck releases like Plugin Alliance, Softube, Slate etc just stopped and more low-cost developers with weak or no protection are being targeted.

Don't get me wrong - R2R has all the rights to do what they please. If you don't like their policy then don't download their releases.
I'm fine as I'm bying all the software I need, but I can't shake off the feeling something's fishy going on. Something earlier legendary teams would never do.

Why? I don't know. I guess time will tell. Huge respect to R2R for everything they gave us so far. Either way, some new players are raising skills and slowly coming up as next scene kings.

I sincerely hope this great place will stand with all good people for many years to come.

I wish you all Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, love and peace!

I think gratitude is a useful sign of kindness on our wall, but completely ineffective in order to reverse a trend now destined to the progressive disappearance of quality warez. The situation compared to just a few years ago has changed profoundly, and if we look at it with the eyes of R2R we can understand their progressive disaffection.
Their work no longer feeds a majority of non-professional enthusiasts hopeful to enter the world of music despite few resources available; on the contrary, there has been a widespread system of exploitation of their work by a myriad of subjects, with a diffusion that, in addition to being outrageous, puts their position in serious danger (I believe that few people believe that Audioutopia and R2R are two different teams, and coincidentally all the more "risky" cracks came out with the first brand, now missing).

Over time they have asked for more participation, or the availability of retail versions: I think that little or nothing has moved in this direction, at least by means of the channels they made available.
They repeatedly signaled their position of absolute rejection of the exploitation of their work, and as a result some clever people had the good idea to make a site with their name.
So, why keep on making their genius available? For pure personal satisfaction? For this there is no need to spread the results; and the utopia (this term repeats itself ...) of a music available to all without commercialization is definitively buried by the aforementioned situation ...

Ok, they sometime seem to be a little bit..how can I say...extreme? in explaining their position and requests, but maybe the category of "professional enthusiasts with insufficient economic resources", better known as leechers, to which I too (not proudly) belong, should do something more than just a simple "thank you guys (as I often do.....:dunno:.....).

A change will happen anyway: that is, if not active on our part in the hope of some result, it will be passive, with the aforementioned progressive rarefaction of the cracks, at least the quality ones.

To change everything so that nothing changes (from Gattopardo memory) is certainly not the way: but as W.Churchill argued, if a change does not necessarily lead to an improvement, to improve is certainly necessary to change; more...to improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often. But I have to admit, I certainly do not have precise ideas for a valid contribution, the only words count for little...:(

    Any idea?

There are a lot of groups made me/us happy since 2005 when i started to follow the audio scene, R2R are one of the greatest and i don't forget everyday what they did, a lot of peoples forget that after installed software. If i should to check all releases, top releases they are in second position, at the moment IMHO the only ones that can get the crown are AiR, thanks Gouda. RIP bro, I can't forget!!!! Much love!!!!!!!

Even if I don't download anything, I still like to pop over to the warez forums and see what came out on Christmas. It's kind of like a fun tradition. Always makes me smirk a little, remembering how crazy the whole place went when Ilok2 was finally beaten. Was that last Christmas? Two years ago? Can't even remember

    But yeah, Merry Christmas people.

And you too @Mykal you old shit-stirrer :)

Amazed? With what? Just interested... not trying to be nasty.

edit: Personally, I was impressed with AUDiTOR's Kontakt 5.7.3 release. That's a really nice gift.

I used to get my "drugs" from various FTPs... It was hard to find them [that's what IRCs shined for ], but when you did it was x-mas all over again. :rofl:Interesting times, indeed. But you had to have computing skills [that I never lacked] and know the right people. Nostalgia, indeed.

Maybe 32bit version of Sonic Projects OP-X PRO-II. Because 64bit was released long ago by V.R:hillbilly:. Well I am happy cause at least they released new version of spire which I wanted to play with. Let's see what team Auditor is capable of. Slate's Distressor is now a dream as AudioUtopia is gone, they shook the scene world with their work. This thread seems less 'Thanks' and more 'begging' to release something.

I can honestly say I don’t need R2R or anyone else for my music. The stock plugins in my DAWs of choice, Studio One and Mixbus are more than enough for my needs. Combine them with about 7 iLok-based Plugins I bought over the years, and I don’t have to be chasing new versions, contaminating my hard drive with things I don’t use, etc.

    I’m not a plugin collector.

As for ‘proof’, no, I don’t have a video for you. Or a signed and notarized confession from the offending party. Sorry.

Lol...Reaper has its own charm: a daw free of bloat!

I was a Reaper user for a while, but I prefer Studio One nowadays. In the end, my personal preference is for simplicity; I only want the things I need and use - no reason to have 14 compressors and 17 EQs. In my case, it would just distract me, making my workflow slower and innefficient.

Are they really? I don't recall any official announcement. I have scoured these forums, and nothing. Or did they just lose interest and walk away without saying anything? Does anyone have any knowledge about this? That would really be too bad if true.

Man I wish I could say the same thing.

One of the reasons I started buying plugins and uninstalling cracks is because I thought it would curb my tendency to jump on what's new and shiny. It has somewhat, but I still impulse buy like a motherfucker sometimes. I bought a computer music mag issue because I found out it had a full version of WarmVerb - a plug from a developer I don't trust at all lol. I almost bought Zebra the other day because of the new 2.8 beta coming out. I still might eventually, even though I have Avenger, Omnisphere and Serum. How many supersynths does one man need?

    i need help.
