Is There A Scientific Reason Why 'Trap' Music Is So Disposable?

Problem is the network has become the main exchange for everything more than cd/dvd/bluray. You can't take for granted the first instance of a song you find is in it's original and intended quality. You have to reference multiple sources of the same song to see if it's truly poor engineering, or if it's been tampered with and stepped on by a grapevine of casual uploading and re-uploading.

A lot of Trap and EDM amateurs have a knack for screwing up the drums because they throw HP filters on everything and never finesse the LP filters. Just a bunch of loud bright hi-hats, kick too dominant in high-mid range, etc.

Actually it does have a soul. A soul that you might not like as it seems here. A soul that I dislike myself. The "Soul" that it has is very "Dark", even "Black" I would profess. That is the very reason I don't listen to it. Why I won't produce it. It is also "cookie cutter" type music that relates mostly to Dark urban tastes. My daughter listens to it oddly enough because it is what is being fed to her generation. Most people tend to feed on what is "free". The heavy rotation of mind bending "dark" music has overshadowed the Light! Lol. But it won't be forever. Just 4 now. Even bad music has it's fazes.

What I do like though, is that my Daughter mainly listens to "Old school" music. A music with much more substance, imho.

My hope is that it is disposable and will be taken out with the trash as most others like it.

Now on the cousin to "trap" music (and no, I'm not talking about Rap/Hiphop) I feel the same way about all EDM Types of music. EDM is about a beat, maybe not so dark at times, but is mindless and cookie cutter as well. As a Hybrid producer of "old school" and "modern" music, I tend to stay away from both. Regardless of whether the masses love it. This site is mainly EDM "folk". So I expect resistance and feedback.

The music in my Generation was Amazing! 70's, 80's, 90's. Most genres. That being stated, to each his own. If some one likes that, more power to them. Because...
One of the greatest things about life is that we don't have to listen to what we don't like.

    P.S. To a Scientist...everything is scientific.

    some thoughts...
To me there is Trap music/Dirty south & what people call these days edm Trap.
On both you have to dig really deep to find the gems.
It is for me like this : there is nice Detroit techno & Chicago house & then you have "other" house & techno made just for money.
House music especially deep house & soulful house is a feeling, techno music was made by pioneers in Detroit to express their thoughts & emotions about the industrial atmosphere & was 'original" : same thing goes for Trap music(both hip hop & edm) :keys:

You might actually have a point here...I've said before that all these Percs and Xan that these kids be on make some sounds, when you're in that state, more exciting than they real are. A simple, bland pad sound can actually move you to tears when you're on MDMA and cough syrup and weed at the same time. :)

I've heard it said that dance music is meant to provide kinetic, as opposed to intellectual stimulation, but that was in a seedy neighborhood, by uneducated, untrustworthy people. Pay them no mind; avoid eye contact & move on :)
